Hola #Hivers Hola me gustaría comentarles sobre una nueva serie the la plataforma Netflix. Su nombre Los Gringo Hunters.

La serie sigue la história de un escuadrón de élite de la policía Méxicana llamado Unidad de Enlace Internacional, situado en la ciudad fronteriza de Tijuana, especializado en rastrear y capturar prófugos de la justicia Estadounidenses que cruzan la frontera hacia México intentando escapar de la justicia Méxicana.

La propuesta me gustó porque desde el título y el planteamiento de la idea presentan una perspectiva diferente y desafía todo lo que nos cuenta el día a día del "maintream" de noticias. Que ya en estos días uno no sabe donde encuentra más ficción si en los noticeros de las grandes cadenas o en los capítulos de las series de Netflix.

#### El Equipo

La serie se enfoca en el equipo de trabajo creado por el Comandante Cuauctemoc "Temo" Lozano . Integrado por Nicolás "Nico" Bernal, Gloria Carvajal, Roberto "Beto", Crisantos "Cri" Navarro, Liam "Archi" Taylor y la nueva adición de la agente de inteligencia Camila. El comandante es un veterano de la policía, de reconocida integridad, que escunde el secreto de su addición al juego. Nico, osado e impulsivo pero comprometido al 100% con la justicia y el trabajo, Gloria, agente que arrastra los herrores de su pasado, pero es la que mejor conoce el trabajo y el equipo tras el comandante. Beto, jóven pero capaz, "Cri" Maxicano con ciudadanía norteaméricana, conservador, miembro de MAGA y votante del partido republicano. Liam, norteaméricano nacionalizado mexicano escapado de su hogar cuando supo que sus padres lo habían comprado a su madre biológica que era drogadicta y Camila, agente con un desorden del espectro autista y sobrina del jefe de la policía carga con la sospecha de sus compañeros de que fue puesta en el sitio por su relación familiar.

La serie cuenta con 12 capítulos de entre 30 y 40 min, presenta un ritmo elevado y una historia bien contada que atrapa desde el primer capítulo. Mezcla, de manera muy bien lograda, elementos de acción, misterio y suspense. Con tintes de verdadera autenticidad logrado por la correcta caracterización de los personajes, los dialogos plagados de modismos y frases típicas mexicanas que se integran perfectamente en las locaciones utilizadas. La serie tiene el mérito adicional de mostrar el contexto de una ciudad fronteriza, donde la penetración cultural se ve ya sea a través del uso de anglicismos integrados al lenguaje, la participación en la vida diaria de personas de cultura anglo (la cual lograron muy genuinamente integrando actores de origen anglo) y la migración de pobres buscando mejor vida en los EE.UU. Todos estos elementos como trasfondo de la base argumental de la trama también típica de una ciudad fronteriza realza la calidad del producto.

Por otro lado, la estructura combina capítulos autoconclusivos con una subtrama serial que va tomando cada vez más fuerza y preponderancia dentro de la serie, lo que genera un efecto de incremento sostenido de tensión e interés. Finalmente, la calidad de la serie se engalana con escenas de acción muy bien coreografiada, elemento de vital importancia en productos audiovisuales de este tipo.

Algunas subtramas quedaron poco exploradas, quizás como un artificio literario para dar espacio a desarrollarse en próximas temporadas, pero aún con esta idea en mente siento que la subtrama de Gloria y su especie de trio afectivo daba más espacio para desarrollo dramático. Por otra parte, la relación entre María y Nico se precipitó un poco artificialmente, creo que la intención quizás fue aumentar la carga dramática de los ultimos capítulos pero pienso que quizás debio trabajarse más calmadamente. Y finalmente el desenlace final fue muy precipitado y no hubo desarrollo argumentativo que justificara el desenlace presentado.

La serie también tiene sus lugares comunes y clichés, pero hasta cierto punto son necesarios para aumentar la carga emocional y de suspense de la serie. Pero la presentación de un equipo de gente profesional e íntegra que tiene que hacer sus tareas de cada día bajo el mando de líderes políticos y administrativos corruptos que hacen todo lo posible por entorpecer desde sus cargos y su poder el trabajo de los héroes de la trama, dificilmente resulta un elemento narrativo novedoso.

#### La historia detrás de la historia

Uno de los elementos que en mi parecer aporta mucho valor a la serie y a la idea que defiende es el hecho de que la misma está basada en una historia real, los personajes son ficticios e imagino que parte de la historia presentada también. Pero, la unidad en la que se basa la serie es real, lleva varios años operando y ha regresado a la justicia estadounidense miles de fugitivos. La serie está basada en el trabajo periodístico publicado en The Washintong post por Keving Sieff, que cuenta la história de los verdaderos Gringo Hunters de Tijuana.

Este producto audiovisual que muestra la verdad casi nunca contada de la migración de criminales hacia el sur de las fronteras. Ha sido presentado en medio de un momento auge global de la criminalización de migrantes pobres. Y sirve a la vez como un grito de desahogo cargado de verdad y como bocanada de aire fresco ante la contínua manipulación que se vive en nuestros dias, en la que parece ser que el mayor delito que se pueda comenter es ser pobre. La serie tiene el valor de ponerse a contracorriente con la tendencia mediática imperante y desde una plataforma tan potente como lo es la empresa de servicios de streaming mostras un conjunto de verdades que casi nunca oímos y que puede resultar incómoda a las grandes voces del conservadurismo global. Los blancos también pueden ser criminales, los países del norte global también exportan criminales. Ser migrante no es ser criminal y puedes ser criminal sin ser migrante.

On the other hand, the relationship between María and Nico was rushed a bit artificially. I think the intention was perhaps to increase the dramatic tension of the final episodes, but I think it should have been developed more calmly. The series is based on the journalistic work published in The Washington Post by Kevin Sieff, which tells the story of the real Gringo Hunters of Tijuana.

This audiovisual product shows the almost untold truth about the migration of criminals to the south of the border. It has been released amid a global surge in the criminalization of poor migrants. It serves both as a cry of relief laden with truth and as a breath of fresh air in the face of the constant manipulation we experience today, in which it seems that the greatest crime one can commit is to be poor. The series has the courage to go against the prevailing media trend and, from a platform as powerful as the streaming service company, it shows a set of truths that we almost never hear and that may be uncomfortable for the great voices of global conservatism. White people can also be criminals, and countries in the global north also export criminals. Being a migrant does not mean you are a criminal, and you can be a criminal without being a migrant.
