It's getting cold out there...
In that honor, I've created my latest piece, Turn of the Seasons, (Superrare's 911th artwork... We're getting close to the 1000 mark peeps !):
Inspiration
I got the idea for this rather discrete piece (I'm Daltonian, so the changes in colors is nearly invisible to me XD) from my trip to Denmark last week.
I spent 1 week in Denmark, and the Minute I stepped off the plane my cough, which I thought was going away, acted up
again.
"No worries", I told myself, "it's probably just the cold making it act up"
... One congratulatory dinner with the family and a night later, and I had a full-blown throat infection (-_-)
So I pretty much spend my 1 week holiday curled up to the fire, interacting as best I could with my family without contaminating them (I hope).
I'd only taken my phone with me, deciding on some computer-free time to relax, and it led me to think of lots of thinks...
One of said things was how winter had caused this blasted cough to get worse, which led to thinking about winter... which led to coming up with the idea of a gradual, near-imperceptible change to an image to represent the slow change of the seasons !

This part was easy enough.
The very first image I hit upon had the correct combo of soft and hard edges to satisfy me

This part was also a breeze, with just 2 experiments done before I found the one I liked !
Here's a close up of the 2 experiments and the HD version of the last one, with Color preservation activated.
GIMP
There was a lot of random experimentation in this part, most of which I didn't document.
Here's the only one I particularly liked:
- Value inversions and blending
While this gave an... interesting output it wasn't what I was looking for
- Small Black Value contrast variations across multiple images --> winning candidate
Given the circumstances, It is only appropriate that we use my magnificent artwork as fuel to warm us up !!!
