Today was one of the first days not fucked up by someone wanting shit, although I am skirting work that should be completed. They have not moaned yet so I decided to chillax until they do.
On Twitter or Facebook I saw a dude cut up photos then change the photo with very simple cuts so I thought it would be nice to also do a bit of photomanipulation or editing or design or whatever the fuck the artsy twats call it.
So I found three images on pixabay, the Jet was a very specific choice because one of the things he did in that vid was changing a plane into a UFO, I liked that.
I start with the background which I figured was a classy place to die.
Unfortunately, the photo was shot in the day, so I had to fix that and make it night with a gradient filter going from almost black blue to light purple.
I kept the lights in the building by making the image grayscale and duplicating then setting it to bring out only highlights. Brushing away any shitty areas.
Then I need the main thing, the plane to do its damn part. I only needed the front section so I cut its arse off.
Inserted the arseless plane to the scene and cried a bit when I realised I would have to do more work to make it fit the night and destruction of mankind.
First I had to assemble the final machine of death. This is a simple task when you have two things missing critical parts in the same place. Surprisingly one also uses lube for this joining of arseless planes as that creates a seal which is impenetrable.
Deadly human destroying UFO's are cool but even the Aliens do not trust AI yet so you need pilots. This particular squadron hail from the Highlands of not from around here.
The pilots are all clan members commonly referred to as Mc. Chickens clan. No relation to our chickens.
Now lasers can do many things, like scanning for humans and then disintegrating them. It is very important that a laser looks cool, and the colours are customizable.
For this model, I chose blueish clouds which is the basic texture in advanced laser technology.
Then we turn up the search and destroy value to max. The technical terms in photoshop are just colour add and screen.
Although these pilots fly in very strict formation to the scared human running it will seem like chaos. Mindless searching and then a whole lot of destroying, people might report that they flew like headless chickens just killing everyone.
Although they all look like the same thing, they are still individuals.
Until now it seemed they were only searching and there was very little destruction. It is difficult to convey death when all that remains is dust. This is also why the laser is preferred since it does not leave much behind and the Aliens can move right in given they do not destroy buildings.
The laser, however, does such a great job of convincing people they will definitely die if they do not run by leaving slow-burning dust particles and in rare cases of malfunctioning a few embers.
To do that you do the same cloud texture as for the laser itself, then add some noise, not unlike the noise all around you when disintegrating people.
I only want the hot bits to show so again we set the heat to max and watch the dark parts go away. That would be Linear Dodge.
