Here’s yet another reminder that false accusations ruin lives, even if they fall apart upon challenge.
A 37-year-old woman from Cattolica, who was clearly drunk and told the taxi driver she had no money, got into a taxi about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 2025. She specifically told him she needed a ride, but she could not pay on the spot. The taxi driver told her he would take her to an ATM, which was just steps from the local police agency, to withdraw money.
When they arrived, instead of going to the ATM, she got out and urinated, with her pants down, in public, right next to the taxi. The taxi driver tried to stop her, and as a result, she assaulted the taxi driver. The taxi driver immediately called the police. When the officers arrived, the woman initially tried to assault them, then later claimed the taxi driver raped her.
When she got to the police agency, her story fell apart. There were many contradictions in her story, and eventually it came out that she made the entire allegation completely up. Local authorities confirmed it was her third time doing this, she had also falsely accused taxi drivers in Bologna and in another community nearby, always collaterally tied to being unable or unwilling to pay the fare.
She has now been charged with:
Public indecency
Resisting arrest
Fraudulent insolvency (i.e., refusing to pay for a service)
Drunkenness
