This is our first update after the last week launch, and we have to say that everything went really good. The greatest challenge is still ahead, but our first steps confirmed what we hoped for – the community has recognized us, and already gave us precious, initial support.
Many Steemians who will read this post probably have no idea what it is about. Crowdmind is a Steemit community project dedicated to finding, supporting and rewarding initiatives that harness the key of four primary crowdsourcing categories: crowd wisdom, crowd creation, crowd voting, and crowdfunding. We love to say that we started all of this to empower The Wisdom of Crowds. There are many projects on STEEM which harness the strength of specific crowdsourcing manifestation, and it is great – but we wanted to focus not on crowdsourcing tools, but the users themselves.
What the hell does that mean?
Today, it's very difficult to determine the boundary between the online and offline space. We can say that online space is a natural extension of our living environment, while any decision in the offline regime can get its online reflection and vice versa. With Steem based platforms, what we earlier knew as tools available to the crowd, now becomes the natural ability of the crowd, unrestricted by rules of the middleman. However, participation itself cannot be a guarantee of value creation. This is precisely why the crowdsourcing activities must be encouraged and supported by helping the users to liberate full potentials and reach not only individual results, but also the results which will benefit their organizations, communities, and even society as a whole.

So when we speak about crowdfunding, we want to see more than a couple of fundraising posts. We want to motivate Steemians to crowdfund each and every idea which can benefit few people or the whole community. We dont have boundaries here – every comment may spawn fundraising campaign. Every small victory counts and crowdfunding is much more than a catalyst for startup success. Remember the butterfly effect? We do. Crowd creation is the moment when the true magic starts. Simple contests are one manifestation of it – but every contest can be much more than submit an entry and win the prize. For example, short story contest can take one step forward and try to crowdfund the money for hard copy publishing which will reach the readers who are not present on the platform. Talented photographers could connect with their colleagues and make an offline exhibition. But this is just a small drop in crowdsourcing ocean. We would love to see scientific debates, different problem-solving calls, collaborations, etc. And crowd voting as a core Steemians ability is the most powerful tool – there is a good reason why we are calling it curation here.
We are sure that if we succeed in this, we could help Steemians to reach their full potential and prepare themselves to embrace the full potential of the Hivemind. If you dont know what that is, then please read @roadscape post published on the official Steemit blog.
And today, we want to promote two brilliant initiatives from our fellow Steemians.
Before we continue, If you like what we are doing then please support us by voting for our @crowdwitness. This means a lot to us, and every vote counts. You can do it easily by clicking here.
1. Let's relive the History. Crowdmind based project. I'm looking for partners
If you didn't already meet @alexs1320 than please do it now. This young scientist is involved in different Steemit projects, but his brilliant mind is definitely something which makes him unique. And he has a great idea – crowd creation project which is open to all who want to contribute.
Up to date, it was very difficult to preserve the knowledge about past events. One generation can remember, children and grandchildren will listen to the same stories over and over again, and after several decades, the whole context will be lost. Something will survive in the form of books, but even for WWII, the amount of the original sources is actually very, very low. Now we have a tool, tool never has seen before. It will be a map, to which all the participants will be able to contribute. It will be interactive, easy to operate with, without any need to read tons of dusty books and archives. And it will foster the power of crowdmind.

We would love to see this idea grow. And only the crowd can make it great - and who knows, it can become a great educational tool which could find many applications in real life.
2. I need a little help promoting steemit
This simple title hides the post with strong motivation. @article61 is a blogger who wants to attract a specific target group to the Steemit, and he asks the crowd for help. That is the perfect starting point for unleashing the Crowd Wisdom.
I have the desire and I certainly have the balls to approach a new crowd, all I need now is a fancy show-piece that illustrates the steemy goodness I am trying to offer them. My target audience should be receptive to what I am attempting to promote. After all, they are a group of aspiring music/film creators and, as we all know, steemit is a great platform for anyone wanting to promote something that would otherwise be drowned out by the mainstream. The audience in question will be a college named Confetti and as I explained in a recent post this is a hive of young talent just waiting for their chance to shine.
We hope that he will get needed attention. It would be wonderful if we could craft the best approach and attract the new, talented users together.
As we said, this is our first announcement so forget us if it is too long. We just wanted to tell you so much, and we will do it every week :-) . We also plan to do more promotion of Steemians and Witnesses, so there is a plan to interesting interviews every week. We also want to learn from the crowd, so please dont hesitate to comment about anything you think can help.
Once again, we want to say thanks to all of you! Happy crowdsourcing people!
