Is this the point in crypto adoption that we've been waiting for?

Chances are that governments are going to be for this, as paypal would allow full traceability for tax reasons and for crime fighting purposes. I say this because it's often the devil you know that you're better off dealing with. Paypal is a known quantity for law makers, while private exchanges are and will continue to be high risk (in more ways than one if you recall infant-in-an-adult-body Justin Sun's coordinated attack on the community a few months back).

While centralization is never preferable over decentralization when it comes to crypto, even the most hardcore crypto-anarchist has to concede that for crypto to gain mass adoption you need a proper on and off ramp from fiat to crypto. Paypal and Venmo provide a much needed streamlining to get in and out of crypto, while also appeasing the powers that be.

I'll hold my breath for now and see how this pans out. Paypal and Venmo are clearly smelling the profits to be had in this space, and are also in a position to become the next big banks as online currency overtakes fiat.

We're certainly living in interesting times.
