BASIC PRPS & DUBI INTENTIONS
The team that is creating the game call themselves the Singularity Group. "They are a group of activists working around the clock to make a positive impact in the world. Our main focus is to inspire people through action and raise awareness around important issues."
They have done a lot of charity fundraising in the past and now have quite an ambitious with a new economic model that potentially could bring a Decentralized Universal Basic Income first to 3rd world countries and later to the world. The Clash Of Streamers game is mainly a tool to help fund the project and raise some awareness.
They are working together with Save The Children who will provide the know-how and they are actually already in the process of testing things out in Uganda. It is/was possible to get into the beta by subscribing or getting donated a subscription by viewers to the @athenelive twitch channel which quickly brought in 10000 subs of which all money directly goes to save the children (Twitch does not take a cup aside from covering the banking costs for as far as I know).
PRPS & DUBI MODEL
This is where it gets a bit more complicated. The cryptocurrencies PRPS & DUBI operate on an economic model where value is backed up by the dividends instead of on credits & loans.
Money creation in a fractional reserve system
In our current economic system, banks have to keep 10% of the money they receive into their reserves, this allows them to create money out of thin air. This system is called money creation and our entire economy runs on it. This means only 10% of all money in circulations is backed up by actual money and if everyone would withdraw what they have there would be not even close to enough.
PRPS & DUBI System Backed up by Dividends
What DUBI & PRPS aims to do is switch this around to making sure the dividends are backed up for many many years. They created a system where value potentially goes up slowly but steadily all the time. PRPS can be bought for a certain amount, this can be locked up and will give 4% Dividends in the form of DUBI. The money received from PRPS will be used to put up a buy wall for DUBI to always give that its value. While this model is perfectly suited as a Ponzi scheme (so is the current economic model). When done properly with good intentions I believe it could actually work. The video below is a bit older and things have slightly changed by now and the chain got forked changing the values but the main idea still remains the same.
The model I came up with for my @upvoteshares project was very much inspired by the PRPS & DUBI fundamentals and so far has worked out extremely well. They do have a roadmap that purely consists of the numbers and different levels that can be found in this google spreadsheet
SCAM ACCUSATIONS
Athene is quite a controversial person in the gaming scene and is known to "game the system" and find loopholes in existing mechanics and walking a thin line of how far he can push things. He sold his PRPS coin on his stream about 1 and a half year ago and literally marketed it as a scam shouting everyone would get rich. This got quite a lot of people who did take it literally triggered and he was reported so many times that he got actually banned from Twitch for a while after a reddit post about it made the front page. After getting unbanned he could no longer talk about his crypto coins on his stream and they just quietly kept working on the game.
The reality is that nobody actually got scammed. I got into PRPS myself early on when it was possible to donate money for charity and get PRPS for it and even got some more when it started trading on Idex (where they also got delisted from based on the reddit post. They made their own decentralized exchange DubiEx in response to be sure not to be faced with similar issues again and still have the DUBI Buy wall up. In time both coins will trade against ETH stable coin DAI.
CLASH OF STREAMERS INTEGRATION
It will be possible to buy in-game items with DUBI at a favorable rate compared to getting it on the Apple App Store or Google play. Making characters stronger or selling/lending them out will also be an option in the game. When looking at how much money is thrown at similar types of mobile games I would not be surprised to see a lot of money flowing into all of this. While both PRPS & DUBI have been great to hold during the crypto bear market, they likely won't go along if there is another big bull altcoin run.
