Mondays are supposed to be the worst day of the week. Stumbling off to work while your mind is still firmly entrenched in the weekend activities. Entire pots of coffee can’t seem to pull you back into work mode and your mind wanders to the special moments you shared with those special people in your life. But this past Monday was THE BEST DAY EVER! No, “best” doesn’t do it justice, it was the penultimate Monday.
Why was it so good? I had two incredible wins. The first was in World of Warcraft. Since I work from home, I often play World of Warcraft when I take a break from my work to reset my mind from one task before going on to another.

For FIVE years, every single week I have run my characters who are able to solo the dungeon through Tempest Keep, one-shotting trash mobs and yawning my way through the Kael'thas Sunstrider battle and mumbling “please, please, please” as his loot drops. For FIVE YEARS I waited for that little egg to no avail.
This Monday I had almost forgotten that the dungeon would reset the next morning during the Tuesday update and hurried to Tempest Keep wishing so much I was riding on that gorgeous pink and gold Phoenix. I cleared the trash, listened to Kael yammering on about how he would take over the world, knocked off his minions and prepared myself for disappointment yet again as I put him down. Then, the gods smiled, no they positively beamed joy upon me. The egg, the precious egg was there. It hatched into that incredible, lovely pink flamed Phoenix - Al’ar.
I swooped through the cities, soared over the countrysides, and wished that gorgeous mount could do barrel rolls. Yeah, look at me as I strut through Orgrimmar!
I was walking on air as I returned to my work computer, a huge grin plastered on my face. I popped up Discord and saw the most amazing thing -
Steem had won the NetCoin contest!
A week of effort, a week full of ups and downs, a week capped by thinking we had finished in second place. It was over and we had taken the coveted first place spot with it’s listing on the exchange and all the PR hype that would go with that achievement.

We had no advance warning so the community wasn’t mobilzed and in full swing until a few days into the weeklong voting contest. The sports people were in first place early on, but they faded badly into the middle of the pack as things got serious.
The community had mobilized, a tweet storm was in full blast - letting everyone know that the race was on. We hit everywhere online - blogs, videos, social media posts, hashtagging our little hearts out with LoveSteem VoteSteem. Commenting everywhere, and of course voting on the NetCoins portal every single day.
The Discord rooms were alive with excited chatter as first one competitor inched ahead, then another, but with Steem always on their heels and often sitting on top of the pile. Oracle-D unleashed their army of content creators and the tweet storm continued. Blog posts were flying from keyboards. Memes - many featuring the ubiquitous Jeff began hitting Steemit, Twitter, Instagram.
And as the clock inched towards the midnight PST crescendo INS staged a come from behind run to take over first place at the end.
We were crushed. We had given it our all, and come in second best. But there was still hope. The votes had to be certified before the winner was announced.
And on that Monday, that bright, beautiful, wonderful first day of the week, I sat down to my keyboard still feeling the rush of pink ribbons of fire from the wingtips of my stunning, hard won Al’ar to find
WE HAD WON!
Steem was the final winner. And now we get to see headlines like this one from Nasdaq:
Netcoins Lists Steem Token
The PR megaphone that goes with winning the listing in this contest is now spreading the word around the world about Steem and Steemit and the numerous benefits of being a part of the Steem community or even just becoming a Steem hodler. As new people begin to buy the Steem token, our efforts will be rewarded with an increase in Steem value. New people will dip their toe in the Steemit content community, and find the same warm current Steemians have enjoyed.
As for me, I will always keep a warm spot in my heart for the Monday that absolutely rocked!
