Today we wanted to share an inspiring story within the crypto currency industry- one that ties in with our quote we posted yesterday about stewardship and doing working for the greater society 🤝
Have you ever heard of a youngster name Erik Finman? Chances are you have not, considering the 20-year-old American was just like any other kid for most of his life. In 2011 at the ripe age of 12 Erik decided to take a small $1,000 investment from his grandmother and purchased as much bitcoin as he could. At the time, bitcoin was around $12 a piece and Erik was able to purchase around 400 tokens. 😱
💻 Although Erik was so young at the time, he had a keen foresight that many didn’t. This vision combined with his attention to security and patience allowed him to amass a fortune that at the time of this writing would equal a little more than $1.5 million and help Erik claim the title of the “youngest bitcoin millionaire.” Upon hearing this news, it is easy to assume Erik is just another kid who got lucky- after all, he wasn’t exactly the best student. In fact, one of his teachers recommended he drop out of school and start working at Mcdonald’s. Years later, Erik would get the last laugh after dropping out of school and starting a successful and rapidly growing company- one with the aim of changing the way students like him learned. 👨 💻 👩 💻
What makes Erik such an inspiring story is not his success, but what plans to do with it. Being a millennial who understood technology, Erik started a company called Botangle that would aim to help children learn using internet courses instead of traditional teaching methods. It is easy to see that Erik is driven not by greed, but by a higher drive to help kids like him and make the world a better place. 👌 👦 👧
Apart from his work at Botangle, the young entrepreneur has held prestigious posts as a Global Communities Manager for Smartup (a London based startup), been a robotics mentor and marketing consultant for middle schoolers, and has worked with NASA on a project to launch a mini satellite with recordings of regular folks.🤖🌡
