You know BTC can be used to buy a lot, even if about 99% of the world seems unaware, its usually quite fast and 100% reliable since most stores don't wait for 6 confirmations anymore.
Now, earlier this morning (last night) i bought a service from a certain site USING bitcoin. Since i dont have a credit card more often than not i find myself specifically looking for site who offer the option
NOW
most people using crypto live in the somewhat past 2010 era ... i never had any transaction not arrive but lately a lot of benelux sites seem to have a policy that you can't order "under €30" or "under €40 ... so thats why i used http://www.Bitonic.nl for a while now (i mean my vpn cost about $9 per month and stuff like that, its not like i buy a brick of coke every month on the d-webz)
my vpn provider for instance gives each purchase 1:00 hours time to complete (meaning the moment they see its done, not after 6 or more confirmations) ... this particular site gives it 30 minutes (MORE THAN ENOUGH)
the funny bit with Bitonic turned out to be ... they consider €30 or more a "large amount" and "require verification"
the MORE funny part is they do that AFTER you use your banks digipass to pay with bancontact mister cash (about as secure as it gets i suppose)
now how do they do this ... suddenly AFTER they deducted the money from your bank account (yes, its clearly gone) you get another windows telling you pls provide phone number and email addres for verification, your coins will be sent right after.
So you think oh well, another scam to get my data to sell to callcenters and marketeers .. who doesnt have a spare number on a phone they never use for that, right?
So i enter and then , much to my surprise ... i get the message to "send €0,01" to their bank account with a reference number
this is AFTER i just wired the whole amount from the same bank account, same number with the same digipass i have in my hands like wtf 0_o ... if it were my little cousin sitting here he'd have no problem "confirming" that the account was his SINCE THE PAYMENT IS ALREADY DONE yes, the dutch have a very american way of doing busines ... so there i sit, no confirmation
no txID since there is no tx yet ... so off to be after sending cs a mail on how they actually pretend to be using btc while about every site has a timer limit on purchases (being well aware that the eula or whatever agreement will say that whatever goes wrong is my fault, VERY dutch, VERY american ... but that still does not exclude them from legal paperworks or actual customer service)
I get the answer , checking right when i wake up : well sorry , sir, the blockchain requires 6 confirmations, it can take up to an hour blablabla
so im like, yes my dear and good friend phoneboy from CS, i am very well aware of what A blockchain is i wouldnt even call it THE ... there's virtually no site that sells goods that waits for six transactions since the money never fails to arrive (well it's 2017 i think , i might have missed the US seizing BTC-E .... Exactaly how did they do that ? that site was in bulgaria or something but i still smack myself for not mining btc when it was possible on cpu and gpu i mean ... go figure what i missed out by now ... i can't blame myself for mtGox taking the money and run (but i lost that too ofcourse) i dont think i had more than a few dollar worth in btc-e ... but since the americans seem to have played lobbies of the free world i guess those are gone too, ooooff-topic)
"so can i please have the details so i can look up the txID"
well sure man but i already received the confirmation mail so i can almost figure out by myself what that means
so i kindly provide , stating how he is a very nice and very dutch phoneboy clarifying how long a transaction takes while i'm complaining about
THE TIME IT TOOK BEFORE THERE WAS ANY TRANSACTION AT ALL
but that's how phone-boy rolls, right ... i havent met many otherwise ... combell and EA cs seems to be k ... i cant complain about torguard but when it comes to anything bigger usually phoneboy and nailpolish girl are a firewall, not a service, on top of that they have NO CLUE what they 're doing there
which leaves me at the mercy of the site i bought the stuff from ... if they're so kind as to confirm the confirmed transaction (which is hard to deny on a blockchain)
they can send me the cash back or double the service, whatever tickles their fancy, in the meantime €50 is a shitload of money for me these days
