The Golix Token Sale which has been running since the beginning of June 2018 has a very specific objective – to rally together support for the rollout of cryptocurrency infrastructure.
This means developing the capacity to distribute digital currencies to everyone in Africa, especially people who have been excluded from this transformative technology.
Not only are we going to set up cryptocurrency exchanges across the continent, we will also open up trading through “Afrocentric” payment methods like mobile money, giving everyone in Africa a chance to get their hands (excuse the irony) on some cryptocurrencies.
This drive to give everyone in Africa access to digital currencies is why the token sale has an allocation of 1,274 billion GLX tokens. That total figure represents Africa’s entire population, with a token symbolically reserved for each person in Africa.
A million given away through the GLX Token Sale
To make this even more of a reality Golix is giving away 1 million GLX tokens as part of its token sale.
This is in addition to the bonus tokens that have been reserved for all Africans taking part in the token sale and the offer that has been extended to people trading on Golix’s new exchanges in Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Africa.
These 1 million tokens will be distributed to anyone who takes part in a series of quizzes, challenges, and competitions being conducted through social media. All participants will be rewarded with GLX tokens after the token sale when they are released.
Participants will be asked to shoot videos, take pictures and participate in trivia that relates to their countries and Africa as a whole.
In line with the African focus of the token sale, the giveaway will be running under the theme “Africa Is Not A Country.” This is celebrating the diversity and creativity that characterises Africa’s various countries.
A lot of the challenges and daily competitions reflect this. An example is an ongoing challenge that requires people to participate by recording a video of themselves explaining or describing cryptocurrencies in their vernacular language.
With several other challenges lined up until the token sale ends Golix expects that any African who has never had access to cryptocurrencies will have the opportunity to trade or held them through the GLX token.
