Verge, or XVG for short, has seen a lot of "pop" in the crypto community in the last weeks. Like any relatively obscure cryptocurrency, the increase in media attention resulted in a significant price increase for XVG.
In the last few days, buzz on the Verge subreddit has pointed towards a possible disbanding of the XVG Team. Kieran Daniels, the VP of Marketing for Verge, published an article on Medium.com outlining the team on October 31, which can be found here:
On December 24, The Verge Facebook page shared a link requesting signatures on Change.org to get XVG listed on Coinbase. The same Kieran Daniels commented on the post, supposedly revealing that there was no longer a team and only one developer:
Looking into the Facebook account of "Kieran Daniels", it seems that the account itself is legitimate, however, the LinkedIn page lists his position with Verge to be current. Could the post be the lone result of a compromised Facebook account? The possibility also exists that he was forcibly ousted from the team, and may be bitter.
The main developer, known as Sunerok, was active on Reddit less than 24 hours ago, actively refuting a claim that there were only two developers still working on the project:
Verge, known as "Dogecoin Dark" before the name change, has been regarded from the beginning as a "shitcoin" by many investors within the crypto community. Taking a look at the official Verge Road Map, four Q4 goals have not yet been completed with less than a week left in the fourth quarter. With the price of Verge continuing to fall after what may have been a dead cat bounce, the future of XVG remains mostly unknown.
