First of all I hope you Steemians are all enjoying your holidays while they last! I'm currently enjoying mine by writing another ICO review for you guys. Since its Easter I thought I'd write a special one for you guys and since this ICO has been getting a lot of hype recently I thought it would be a perfect one to review, so here we go.
About Faceter
Surveillance systems around the world are centralized. Faceter is a project that seeks to decentralize surveillance systems around the world making them smarter with enhanced object and face detection, video analysis in real time and accurate reporting.
The features the Faceter project seeks to bring will offer better security to customers and enable cameras to understand the situation while responding in a timely fashion. The system will use a convolutional neural network to split the tasks to reinforce privacy.
By basing this project on the blockchain system, sensitive data will always be processed in a very secure and uncompromising environment with all images not subject to recovery or alterations and passed to the decentralized network system.
Faceter will be one of the most affordable computer vision technology that is fuelled by a decentralized network of miners. Mining with Faceter the developers claim, will be twice as profitable as mining Ether on the same Graphic Processing Units.
Team
The team is made of only three advisors which I feel is on the lower side. If they are to see this project through, advisers with lots of experience need to be invited to the project. Secondly, I don’t see a blockchain expert amongst the team and I feel this is not too good for the progress of a blockchain based project.
Experience wise, the co-founders Robert Pothier and Vladimir Tchernitski seem capable of making the team breath their ideas live.
Financials
I have listed the major aspects of the financials of this pre-ico sale just in case you want to invest. The project is tagged “FACE” and will run from Feb 15th 2018 to April 03rd 2018. The price on this ICO is 1000 FACE = 0.0872 ETH and you can purchase using any one of the following cryptocurrency: ETH, BTC, LTC, XRP, DASH, XEM, XMR, BCH
On the positive side there are a lot of bonuses on offer according to the whitelist position. Presale bonuses are 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% according to the time of purchase. On the negative side the tokens on offer represent a 40.8% distribution which is quite low.
A soft cap of $5 million and a hard cap of 35577.6 ETH has been set respectively.
Roadmap
The alpha version of the B2B project has been released and development for the Android, Apple Tv and iOS applications are ongoing.
Overall, the thoughtful innovation of a blockchain based surveillance system might seem good but how the system plans to mitigate fraudulent and sharp practices could be overambitious and may take a very long time to develop. However, I think this is a really innovative ICO and I am exited to see what impact its technology could have on the future.
