How promising was April in the end!
At the start of April it was still 'yawn' bear market, much of the 2018 same same.
Sideways movement, minor gains here and there but even bigger corrections.
By the end of April however it was suddenly party time again with weeks of gains, only minor corrections and then bigger gains again which saw mine and I'm sure a lot of others Alt Folio's nearly double in value.
This is the best movement we have seen since very early in 2018 and I expect the $411 billion USD Total Market Cap to move significantly higher in May.
All indications now are that we are finally on the Fringes of a new Bull Run so time is running out to stock up on our favourite Alt Coins before prices start soaring again.
Below are 5 coins in no particular order I will be focusing on stocking up on in May before the hopefully long Crypto Summer party begins:
Ontology (ONT) Current Price: $8.10 USD or $10.76 AUD
Ontology was all the rage and boomed in April.
It seemed one minute it was around the $5 AUD mark but by the time I got around to getting some, it was already over $10 AUD.
I had to hold off and I am currently barracking for a dip so I can try and get in at a reasonable price.
Ontology is currently at $10.76 AUD with conservative price predictions of up to $45 later in 2018.
Given it's ties with NEO, I think this prediction is very possible.
Whilst Ontology and NEO are still separate entities, NEO contracts will be used by Ontology and Ontology benefits from the NEO ecosystem.
It stands to reason that as NEO gets stronger (which is inevitable) so will Ontology.
I will still wait for at least a small correction to buy in on this one but I am biting my nails waiting.
I am targeting around the $8-$9 mark as I think this is a decent enough entry price for late to the Ontology party investors like me.
Verge (XVG) Current Price 7c USD or 9c AUD
Verge had its inevitable pull back after the Porn Hub partner announcement back on the 17th of April.
Verge was sitting at around the 12c AUD mark at the time of announcement.
Many predicted it would fall lower given the mass selling after a big announcement that any coin has, but Verge has stayed stable since.
The Pornhub announcement created some mixed feelings through the Verge and Crypto community but received positive reviews from media.
In my opinion, it seems a perfect match for a Privacy coin and will only further strengthen Verge in the months, years to come.
Verge has something a lot of other Alt Coins don't and that is proof of concept.
I expect Verge to make more and more partnerships now as it's credibility will only grow.
As Verge pops up in more places, naturally it will have more circulation/real world use and I think its value will continue to grow & grow.
As such I think 9c is still a very cheap price for Verge and I will continue stocking up.
Tron (TRX) Current Price: 9c USD or 12c AUD
Tron is another one that saw some big gains in April and has a lot of excitement brewing.
After being 3c USD early April it has tripled in value since.
Those days late last year/early this year of FUD and being labelled a junk coin are long gone now.
Tron had the greatest number of commits on Github and was the most talked about coin on Twitter last week apparently!
Tron is still an ERC20 token but not for much longer as it has its official Mainnet release on May 31st.
Given Tron has had an all time high price of 25c USD long before it was even close to proving proof of concept, I expect the timing of the Mainnet launch combined with the further heating of the markets to slingshot Tron up to or even past that all time high.
Buying now at 9c USD makes a lot of sense for me, even though this coin's price has been exceptionally fickle historically, even by cryptocurrency standards.
AELF (ELF) Current Price $1.81 USD or $2.41 AUD
Here's one I am a big fan of that doesn't get pumped anywhere near as hard as some others on this list but is quietly enjoying some solid gains with a lot more to come.
AELF was just 52c USD at the start of April so has more than triple up since then and is nearing it's all time high of $2.26 USD.
While I acknowledge it is closer to it's all time high so probably not the best buying time, I just think this coin is going to blow by it pretty easily this time around.
It offers one of the most scalable Blockchain platforms in existence and only has a circulating supply of 250 million.
The total supply is only 280 million so no more out there to flood the market and dilute the price.
AELF are also implementing a program to create more awareness dubbed the candy system which in short will reward users for completing tasks that help build awareness and attract new users.
It's real world use, it's clever self promotion and the expected bullish period for all Alt Coins will I think drive AELF well beyond it's all time high.
I'd say now is still a good time to but but having said that if I can pick it up on a slight dip that will be nice.
Substratum (SUB) Current Price 80c USD or $1.06 AUD
Substratum is another one that is gaining in popularity.
I have been holding a small amount of this for quite some time but I think they are also building towards something big in the future.
They have moved from 32c USD on 2nd of April to 80c USD now but are still a fair way off the all time high of $3.13 USD, so still a good time to buy.
Interestingly they currently have a documentary airing on a CNN Business Channel that will repeat at intervals through May which will also give them a lot more exposure.
I also really like Substratum's aim and the real world problem they want to help solve.
Substratum aim to fully decentralise the web and that is a hot topic of debate in the wake of the Facebook scandal.
I think a fully decentralised internet needs to happen and in their own words Substratum describe themselves as - “open-source network that allows anyone to allocate spare computing resources to make the internet a free and fair place for the entire world.”
Strong real world use, pretty low circulating supply of 383 million, plenty of room to move before it nears it's all time high and the eve of a bullish crypto season all adds up to great timing for purchasing Substratum in my opinion.
Bonus honourable mentions to:
Cardano (ADA)
Cardano seem to have sat stagnant in the market for so long now and the price since tumbling down from that all time high of $1.28 USD, has also not done much for a while.
That may be about to all change.
In the last month Cardano has gone from 15c to 33c USD which is not as rapid as some coins of late but is very good all the same.
Cardano also are finally getting active again and have a testnet launch followed by a roadmap update all happening early this month.
We have all seen how quickly this coin can move north when a bit of buzz starts so now would be a good time to top up.
EOS (EOS)
EOS is also one high on my radar. Dan Larimer is a genius and EOS will have its exciting mainnet launch just after June 2.
I couldn't include it in my top 5 list as it has already exploded and has hit all time high prices.
I try to avoid buying a coin at all time highs regardless of what exciting news is on the horizon.
As we approach a Bullish period it may well continue rising right through to launch but that is a risk I will take.
It will pull back at some point even if I have to wait until after the mainnet launch in June.
In the meantime if EOS does suffer some FUD or has a pull back towards the $10-$12 AUD mark I will jump on some.
