About six weeks ago I started trading cryptocurrencies. Initially I bought a few bitcoins and started reading about different altcoins. Ethereum caught my eye. Many people are enthusiastic about ethereum, a chain or smart contracts, that is faster then the Bitcoin blockchain (which is getting slow en therefore fees are getting high). Many new ICO's started to sprout on the Ethereum chain, some of them succesfull like Bancor and IOTA. The thing about ICO's is that I think it is strange that people invest heavily in ICO's without even a working proof of concept. You see a fancy website with a few marketing terms and people get hyped. I myself am thinking about investing in SNT (Status Network Token). ICO's seem to be a new kind of crowdfunding. One of the downsides is that the first scam ICO will soon arise. A second one is that people behind the ICO get a lot of Ethereum (or in some case Bitcoin). They must sell this for 'real money' to pay for wages and an office, which means the price of Ethereum drops (depending on the amount of panicsellers.
At the moment my portfolio consists of Ethereum, Stratis, Litecoin and Golem. I will add SNT in the future.
