A Brief Overview Of: Refereum
What is Refereum?
Alas, I hold my hands up! Technically, this is a coin in its pre-ICO stage and therefore is not in the top 100, nor is it listed on coinmarketcap.com at all. That being said, I feel like this project is worth discussing and it resonates with me personally, as I am an avid game enthusiast.
So what is Refereum exactly? It is an ERC20 utility token that utilizes the Ethereum blockchain. Refereum, as quoted from their official white paper, is a decentralized referral marketplace for games that pays you — not corporations. The Refereum project, led by Dylan Jones, essentially aims to transform the gaming industry as we know it. $108 billion dollars are spent on the video game industry annually, with marketing and advertising costs increasing dramatically, year upon year. Corporations such as Google and Facebook benefit from this, in which it is estimated that spend on adverts exceeded $37 billion in 2017.
Refereum aims to cut out the middle-man. By integrating the Refereum coin within the Twitch and Unity platforms, Refereum aims to reward users for reaching goals within a game, or watching their favourite streamers. Streamers also benefit, as they are rewarded with coins for streaming and promoting the product. It’s a winner all round, the games companies are able to finally embrace an efficient way to advertise their product, whilst the community gets paid to watch/play what they enjoy.

Should you invest in Refereum?
Honestly? It’s hard to say. I would hedge my bets on saying you would make substantial profits from purchasing Refereum in the ICO and holding, but I myself will probably refrain from buying any.
