Balance of Nature
A concept in ecology that describes natural systems as being in a state of equilibrium, in which disturbing one element disturbs the entire system. The inference is usually drawn that the natural state of any system is the preferred state and that it is best to leave it undisturbed. source
After being sick for days, I went back to my day job today and here's what greeted me:
officemate 1: What is going on with the crypto world today?
officemate 2: Are we scammed?
officemate 3: Should I get out now? and sell all my coins?
ME: Guys, it's normal, everything is normal!
I said it plainly and dry. No further comments and no further explanations. no emotions at all.
I sat down and compose my thoughts and here is what I should have explained to them:
We are in a revolutionary time that breakthrough in technologies have achieved leaps and bounds. The blockchain and cryptocurrencies are like mushrooms - they're everywhere. Ambitious thoughts of disrupting the economy with these new technologies powered by the blockchain are in the mainstream now - heck, it's happening right in front of our eyes. We jumped in the bandwagon fearing of missing out (FOMO). Everyone is making money trading crypto currencies, investing on ICOs and blogging on steemit!
All's well that ends well -- at least this is what we hope for right? BUT the one thing we missed out in the equation is - is this the natural state of equilibrium?
...disturbing one element disturbs the entire system. The inference is usually drawn that the natural state of any system is the preferred state and that it is best to leave it undisturbed.
So what is our preferred state? This is where the problem emerged because not all of us agree with a preferred state - some want a centralized banking system , others wanted a decentralized currency; some may want to transact anonymously but others may want transactions to be transparent.
But you may ask, well it's normal to be different from others - can't we have that then as the preferred state? I don't see why not. However, we should realized then that whatever impurities we introduced to that system will have a normal reaction to re-gain the balance or perhaps opt to choose another preferred state.
So now that the crypto market is falling, this is in fact NORMAL... the question is - are we changing the preferred state? or is this nature trying to re-gain it's balance?
If you think it's the latter then it's time for you to convert back to fiat otherwise this is the perfect time to get cheap coins!
