Earlier this month, South Korea's Justice minister Park Sang-ki announced that the country was planning to impose a ban on cryptocurrency trading. The announcement led to a massive cryptocurrency selloff, which resulted in Bitcoin's value dropping by over 10 percent on Luxembourg-based cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp.
Now, according to a recent statement from Finance minister Kim Dong-yeon, the country does not intend to ban cryptocurrency trading. "There is no intention to ban or suppress cryptocurrency," Kim was quoted saying.
