Everything in its right place...
Anyone who has followed my blog knows I'm a fan of Vertcoin - so I guess you could say this is a bit of a shill if you want to look at it in a negative light. I confess, I do have a small quantity of Vertcoin, because I believe in the coin's long-term potential.
Vertcoin has been hammered over the past few days of FUD in the market, dropping hard from around $4 USD to a low of around $2.40. Of course, the entire market has suffered over this past week, but this is an extreme drop, comparatively. This is mostly due to the relatively small market cap of Vertcoin, its low liquidity allowing for a severe drop in price amidst a panic-sell environment.
Traders may be looking for bargains as prices have started to settle and slightly recover. This is the time to start searching around the market for the little gems that are under-valued. Vertcoin is such a coin at the moment. Like its big brothers, Bitcoin and Litecoin, Vertcoin is SegWit-compatible, meaning it will take advantage of the Lightning network and can already be exchanged via atomic swaps for other compatible coins on platforms such as BarterDex, on the Komodo platform.
In the near future, Vertcoin will be rolling out to the UK-based fiat-to-Vertcoin exchange, Vertpig, likely starting next week. This is one of a very few select cryptocurrencies that will be available directly by fiat purchase. Initially, the plan is to roll out gradually to pre-registrants. There is no doubt that this opportunity will cause excitement in the Vertcoin community. Secondly, arriving later this year, Vertbase will serve the same need in the United States, allowing for direct USD to Vertcoin trading.
Vertcoin has been constrained by the fact that it is available on relatively few exchanges and is not a heavily marketed coin as it is developed and run by volunteer developers and marketers. It does not have the marketing panache of a token like Tronix, for example, but is a substantial, well-developed technology that is currently under-sold. This might be a great time to scoop up some Vertcoin.
