Weekend projects can be enjoyable, but they can also turn bad in a hurry.
This post is about a project that went extremely smoothly and much faster than expected.
We had noticed over the past few months that our kitchen faucet was beginning to show some major wear and was starting to leak near the base.
It was time to replace it.
I headed to Amazon to start researching products, and it just happened to be Amazon Prime Days, so I got a good quality replacement at half the regular price.
This is the faucet that I had chosen. Actually, I had purchased two different faucets, and this is the one my wife @pegnovak selected, and we sent the other one back.
Next step, open this thing up and check it out.
What I found was a bit daunting.
There were many more parts then I had expected.
I have replaced several faucets in my day and they never had as many parts that this on does.
I had planned the install for Saturday morning just in case we ran into trouble, I would have Sunday for back up if needed.
This is the faucet that we were replacing,
I enlisted the help of my son-in-law. He is very good at projects and is great at problem-solving.
Since he is 30 years younger than me, I put him under the sink, lol.
I sorted parts, read the step-by-step instructions for him and we proceeded to install the new faucet.
To my surprise, it went very smooth and we had the total project done in under 2 hours. Here is the finished project.
As you can see in the first picture, this is a Moen faucet. One of the features is that it is touchless. It has a sensor on the side that turns it on. This is nice when your hands are dirty and you do not want to touch the fixture.
The down side to this is that the power source for the faucet is six "AA" batteries and not a direct AC power supply. Which is not a real problem, but the faucet does not work at all if the batteries die.
To help this issue, my wife is wanting six replacement batteries stored under the sink at all times in the event the the power dies.
All in all, it was not nearly as complicated as I had thought, and we were happy with the result.
I highly recommend Moen products.
Until next time,
John Novak
