Yup, the title is correct. I used my riding lawn mower as a brush hog!! It was a slow and pain staking long and slow process but after chipping away at for over a week I can finally say the biggest obstacle has been completed. All I have left to chop down is the weeds in the hoop house and the chicken coop. Then I can give the 2166 a rest, or at least let her focus on just cutting the lawn!
So why I am using a riding lawn mower to brush hog and not a skid steer or tractor? Honest question. The answer; cost and because we just moved in. I priced around my area for a skid steer with brush hog. With insurance it would cost me over $600 PER DAY! I have been searching Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist like a madman every night to find a Farmall Super M or bigger and a reliable brush hog. So far, nothing in my price range fits the requirements and everything over my price limit is just too big.
I am hoping that in the near future I can find a respectable Farmall so I can get this homestead off the ground.
Oh where I cut is the future site for some fruit trees, vineyard and more importantly our garden...a big garden!!
