As many of you know, I write the Weekly Buzz for the #newbieresteemday initiative. I am several weeks behind (shhh), but please follow the hashtag to read all about our exciting activities. Or stop by @davemccoy's blog. He has everything there.
Many may not know that I am also the “B” factor in the ABC’s of Curation.
Who and What are the ABC’s of Curation?
The ABC’s of Curation is the curating team behind the top post picks for @newbieresteemday. The @newbieresteemday account was created when @coolguy123 delegated 200 SP so our Newbie Resteem Initiative could help support the newbie community.
The intent of the account is to boost the morale of our newbie authors that spend time writing a quality post but may go unnoticed. Our upvote value may not pack a punch, but we strive to lift the spirits of our newbies. As you will see later, we do also have a network of TEAM members working together with @newbieresteemday and @curie to give our newbie authors a chance of reaching a wider audience.
Also, to give ourselves a pat on the back, we have also been ranked in the Top 10 of @abh12345's Curation League several weeks running for maximizing curation rewards.

What Should I Do As a Post Author?
Simple. Use #newbieresteemday as one of your hashtags. Easy, right?
How Will I Get Noticed?
Volunteers from the ABC’s of Curation team will review posts made using the #newbieresteemday tag.
IF your Reputation Score is BELOW 45, we will upvote and resteem your post as the top picks on the @newbieresteemday account if you’ve spent time writing your post. “Quality” picks are subjective to the volunteer doing the reviewing. Please don’t take offense if your post does not get selected.
Remember, we are volunteering our time to read your posts. Not everyone will be selected as a highlighted post. We only select around 10 posts a day.
IF your Reputation Score is ABOVE 45, we will happily resteem your post as the top picks on the @newbieresteemday account if you’ve spent time writing your post. Simply because we can’t upvote you don’t mean you should not use our hashtag. Remember, we have members on our team that are Curators from @curie. They keep an eye on the hashtag.
Remember, we are volunteering our time and may not get to everyone's post, even for a resteem. If you feel you have written a great post and would like to be highlighted, please reach out to us individually and let us know.
The @newbieresteemday account highlighted a post BUT I don’t see the hashtag #newbieresteemday used. Why is it highlighted?
The Newbie Resteem Initiative just celebrated our 2 months anniversary. Since we are fairly new, not everyone knows about us. Now and then when we have the time, we do go out talent scouting. We want to support all newbies, not just the ones that know of our initiative or are a part of our team. We give our upvote, highlight them and give them that extra bit of exposure. Some choose to use our #newbieresteemday going forward and others choose not to do so. That’s okay. Our goal is to support the newbies, whether they are part of our community or not.
It just may be harder to find you again if you don't use our #newbieresteemday hashtag.

@DaveMcCoy is our silent “D” member volunteering his time to help the ABC's when life gets busy for one of us.
@LynnCoyle1 has been helping with resteems. It hasn't been officially announced, but we recently recruited @lynncoyle1 into the ABC’s of Curation Team! She can’t very well object publicly, right? Way to put her on the spot.
We are all new to curation. We are not Curators with any other group. We are all volunteering some time to read our newbies' posts and try to get them more exposure. Dave is also a mentor to many of our newbie members. We all want to help in what ways we can.
Who is @curie?
I’ve had many of our newbies ask me who @curie is and why their upvotes are significant. Of course, this is usually after their post has received a @curie upvote, but many are still new and don't realize why they should be excited to be 'curied'.
Newbies like @profanereviews, Is my brain showing and @youhavewings, Backyard antics who has recently been curied and may not know who they are. (Their posts are live and highlighted on @newbieresteemday; go show your support!)
Other individuals in the past that has been curied as a result of one or more of our team members working together to support them: @amariespeaks, @malloryblythe, @suitcasemama, @kismet2018, @seaslim, @theblackcrow, @mermaidvampire and @kay-leclerc.
Curie has a curation trail. They are also a witness. An upvote from them could mean a big payout value for you as an author.
I have also been asked why there are 200+ upvotes on their post, but only 25+ views. This is where a curation trail comes into play. There is a 'lead' account in a curation trail. When that account makes an upvote, the individuals following the trail on steemauto are also casting their upvote with the 'lead' account.

The @newbieresteemday account has an upvote value of $0.04 cents. We have a curation trail set up with Steemauto for anyone to follow if they want to help show support to the newbie community. Depending on the trail, our upvote value could be as high as $0.30 cents.

For your consideration: You may not think your upvote worth is worth anything and don't feel it worthwhile to add to the curation trail, but 1% here or 5% there does add up. We all remember how hard it was to write a post and not have anyone notice.

Our @newbieresteemday account is small but while we have a small upvote worth, we make up for with our big hearts. We also work in tandem with two of our members who are Curators from @curie. Our two fabulous members are @randomwanderings and @deborism. They also keep an eye out on the #newbieresteemday tag, but we, the ABC's of Curation, do reach out to them if there is a post that curie might like.
Only by working in tandem do we succeed as a whole!

This post was longer than I had planned. I will save the encore for another post, which will be the “B” Factor of the ABC’s of Curation. In there I would like to highlight some of the authors I’ve selected on the @newbieresteemday account and how some of them later received an upvote from @curie. The intent will be to highlight some of the posts I read and would then highlight on @newbieresteemday or reach out to @randomwanderings and @deoborism for curie review.
