We've come so far!
First, a quick reminder of just how far. Here is Jet, so dinky and barely walking at just 5 weeks old. Her eyes were yet to develop the incredible green and gold pigment they are now! Right this moment, she's clambering around on my desk and trying to distract me from writing this ... hahaha
Baby girl Jet, when she could fit in the palm of one hand.
Young Bat
Then our boy Bat, also here at 5 weeks as a reminder. The basic coloring is there but boy has changed so much also, we sorted out that grubby face and eye infections right at the start and now he is growing up into a premium handsome little guy. As you can see he had it pretty rough in the beginning
I'll always cherish these first moments getting to know each other. From this dainty embattled and helpless thing, to the 4kg ball of muscles and thick mane he is now ... the transformation is incredible.
6 months later, Jet is 'Netflix and chill' watching her favorite channel about Siamese cats.
Here's a portrait I captured of Jet sleeping. She is very slender and her fur is as smooth as silk.
Cats have the ability to be asleep yet aware at the same time. In this situation the eyes peak open, but the snoozing doesn't stop.
The author out with Bat for a quiet evening bite to eat, maybe a beer or two and to introduce him to more of my friends who had been pestering for me to bring him out for awhile.
The boy frequently comes to me for strokes and attention, however the girl tends to wait until I'm asleep then come and sit right up near my face whilst Bat will always settle around my feet. They are quite a pair of characters. They also both wake me up when the sun comes up, and demand to be fed. If I don't get up, they'll start terrorizing curtains, sofas, whatever it takes to get me roused.
A little gentleman
This shot went semi 'viral' especially as a video. He just put his paw here by himself, it was such a funny pose to capture on camera. Just like those Chinese lucky cat mascots ...
It's Mom
That is the mother of both of them right there in the lap of the owner, this lady has a Thai street-food restaurant which is how she ended up with this cat. She is a big girl, I wonder how close to this size my guys will eventually be. We will know in a few months from now as cats take about 1 year only to reach full size and 2 to become mature adults. They'll still be kids and play crazy for a good while yet.
Bat Naps
Chilling out hugging with sister. These 2 get along great for most of the time, sometimes fights can appear to be a bit out of hand, but actually on close observation it is serious role-play to learn defending themselves. They literally practice full-contact kitty martial arts. They always seem to know how to tell the other if things are getting too intense.
Logo Tail
I have thought about dying this tail blue as it almost looks like a BitShares logo!
Blue Eyes
Only found on Siamese breeds, Bat has the true blue eyes of the breed. Caught in just the right light they are truly beautiful to look into.
From a distance Jet normally looks, well, just 'Jet black'. However, there are times we can reveal all sorts of embarrassing scruffy little hairs and whiskers, a sprinkling of white hairs on her underside and different textures of near-black, some almost looking like a sunburst or dark rust brown in coloration. She actually has similar 'tiger stripes' to Bat, just you have to look closely as the colors are almost identical.
Bat's tail again, and buthole lol. It is curled at the end like a little seashell, and causes this little bobble or pom-pom to form which is very unique and cute.
Jet's tail on the other hand is completely straight, and she looks like a witches cat that walked straight out of a Disney cell.
He likes to grab onto my hand, or sometimes will 'hug' my arm, claws retracted.
They're getting too big for this tent, I am now on the search for a larger one that also folds up quickly and easily for taking them places. It's great as they feel safe, can't wonder off, yet get to see and smell and hear everything around them. I then have comfortable cat-specific harnesses and leashes (you must use a harness, just a collar and they can jump and hurt themselves really badly).
It'd be great to let them free in the garden as they pleased, however there are many small creatures here I don't want killed also. So most play is undertaken supervised. They get at least an hour garden time every day, it is enough for them, plus they have the entire house within which they do a lot more running, jumping, wrestling, etc. They are active and healthy.
Stalking for anything that moves in the garden ...
Ready for a walk, PPE gear all good to go and comfortable. They just aren't interested in the 'walking' part however. More training to follow. This will be the next major phase - to see if they can obey and start to follow Daddy around on the leash.
Coming Soon!
Teaching them to better embrace use of the harness and leash, the goal to see if they can get used to the idea of going for a 'walk' with me rather than just flopping around on the ground when I put them on.
That's all folks! Hope you enjoyed seeing these 2 beauties again!
