When my partner @alessandrawhite was going to graduate school in London back in [CLASSIFIED] we were both shocked that the school still employed a woman who came round every afternoon to all the classrooms with a tea cart. The students and the professors, type As the lot of them, all took time to have “tea and biscuits” and socialize for a few minutes before returning to their respective oars.
The above photo is the view from the cafe on the top floor of the Peter Jones department store in Sloane Square, near Alessandra’s old student flat. We would often meet there on the days I was able to join her for, yes, tea and biscuits. It was a crazy time in our lives as we were both in school and living in different countries but we learned one of our most important lessons from the tea cart lady: there’s always time for tea and biscuits.
