i caught a video this morning from @nathanmars about engagement on dtube videos and was wondering how to maybe frame the request better, after all lots of other places have engagement through regular radio shows and such like and i know we have many ‘promoting’ dtube shows here as well but do we have any of those things that pull them together, like regularly, daily even? — maybe we need to do some kind of dial in, live video chat ‘get to know the dtube’ person behind the account?
i know one of the things for me about ‘engaging’ is that i often have a cycle to my day which i means i don’t have much time for content watching, less so for engagement, dtube is not as smooth (yet) for me as say something like youtube, i’d love some kind of tool that just backed to backed playback of my favourite videos and allowed me a quick fire reply/comment to each one as i was watching.
as for content/engagement here on dtube, i guess i’m a more face to face person, like last year at steemfest 2 i loved talking to a bunch of people who’s blogs i follow and comment on but i don’t do it religiously — also, i definitely feel there is an underlying ‘judgement’ that goes on with the ‘quality’ of content on every platform in the social sphere, we certainly need more positivity and uplift rather than judgement over quality and ‘what kit’ was used, we should be building ourselves up, not just judging over the ability to wield words and equipment.
i’ve kinda been through all this before when i first got on the web with the early 100 strong (ish) yahoo videoblogging group — the way we got into better conversations was to tell stories, in fact that’s what bought me a lot more closer to the people because i got to know more about the person behind the camera, i remember people sharing very personal blogs of their family members passing away — the empty bed afterwards and the feelings they were going through.
maybe we just need to be a bit more direct and to just engage with people one on one, to like provide a bridge between each other, so that people see that content and react to it with questions or interactions, maybe just talking about ‘content’ and ‘community’ is not enough, maybe
