Apart from writing travel blogs, making videos, live stream on Steemit, I also share a lot of food reviews. In the past year, I have shared 57 different food reviews on Steemit so you can imagine that sharing food reviews is an important part of my blogging. When Tasteem was introduced, I knew this dapp would be perfect for my food blogging as you can search for food reviews in the one place from one author or from other writers.
There are a few versions of Tasteem for different regions - Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam & Global. As I fall in the global category, I will share with you on my experience with using Tasteem from the global site. The site is very clear and easy to navigate. Each week, there are different themes for users to write about to share their experience. Before I go on further, anyone who would like to write a review on Tasteem needs to apply to be whitelisted first before contributing to the website. I think this is a good strategy for filtering people who do really want to write quality reviews. I have noticed that in each contest, there will be people who may not meet rules, take photos from other websites etc and Tasteem’s supporters will step in and decide what actions to take to ensure the contests are fair for other users.
What I like about Tasteem is they encourage good content from users. Not only they award users who submit a review (which can also lead to abuse), if a Tasteem supporter finds an exceptional post or if someone who consistently produce a good review, they can get extra rewards for their hard work. Once the contest completes, top 10 reviews will get an upvote from Tasteem for their hard work and top 3 will get additional Steem in addition to their reward upvote. We see many reviews on TripAdvisor, Yelp, Foursquare but these people don’t get rewarded. But by using Tasteem, you get a basic reward first and if other users believe your reviews are also well written and give you a vote, you potentially can get rewarded more for your efforts.
By using Tasteem, Not only I am able to collate all my work in one dapp, search for restaurants around the world in one place and I am also able to be rewarded for my efforts. There are still things Tasteem can improve on and which I know they are already in the process of doing but for a young Dapp on the Steem blockchain, Tasteem will be one of the dapps that people should look out for in the coming months.
