This DASH review continues my look at altcoin cryptos in more detail. In this review of the DASH cryptocurrency (DASH) I will be sharing a bit on Dash's technology/benefits at a glance, will give my thoughts on a DASH price prediction and will also share where to buy the DASH cryptocurrency.
The coin features solid technology, a growing fan base, a large share of the market, and looks to be both scalable and positioned for potential mass adoption. All of these factors put DASH in my "safe" category of altcoins.
DASH Cryptocurrency at A Glance
DASH, short for digital cash was founded in 2014 by Evan Duffield. Over the last 12 months, like most other prominent altcoins, its price has exploded. Unlike Bitcoin that is popular with traders and Ethereum that is a popular platform for ICOs, Dash seeks to be a live currency/an actual payment method. The DASH website keeps an ever-growing list of online retailers that accept DASH for products and services.
DASH Cryptocurrency Benefits
Some of DASH's Highlights Include:
- Scaling and Consensus - Investors in Dash are able to vote on changes to the network and actually have the power to fire a non-compliant development team. Furthermore, Dash's consensus roadmap has a detailed plan on how to offer instant (and cheap) transactions at a rate of 4,000 or more per second (Bitcoin currently only does 7)as well as how to properly incentivize and develop open-source software towards building the nodes necessary to run the network.
- Privacy - To illustrate the coin's strong privacy component, there is actually an ongoing challenge to trace a transaction and now a "bounty" of $15,000 for anyone able to reveal a bug. It goes without saying, but no such vulnerabilty has been found.
- Decentralization - Again, DASH stakeholders actually get to vote on the direction of funding and development. There are three major groups funded by the network (Dash Labs, Dash Force and Dash Core), all of which are independently run.
- Mass Adoption Plans - DASH's team is working toward the goal of a coin for the everyman. In other words, they are aiming for widespread application and adoption by the masses.

In Dash, everyone has a voice and the ability to propose projects directly to the network. Anything you can do - from marketing to development - that helps Dash grow and improve can be funded. This means Dash funds its own growth and adoption, consensus is guaranteed, and everyone is accountable to the network.
How Many DASH Coins are There?
As of the time of the writing, there is a relatively limited number of 7.8 million DASH coins available. The total supply of DASH coins will be capped at 22 million. Like another favorite altcoin of mine, Monero (see my Monero review), makes it even more limited than Bitcoin, a fact that reflects the current price and, all other factors being equal, continue to trend the price upward.

At the time of writing, DASH is trading near the $1200/mark, a 100x price increase from where it was the same time in 2016!
2018 is going to be the year of the altcoin and as I mentioned in my previous altcoin posts, I believe most proven coins are going to experience big gains in 2018. While, it's period of astronomical growth is probably over, DASH falls in this safe category should continue to appreciate. My DASH target price for 2018 is $2200. A price of $3000 by the end of the year I think is not out of the question.
As with my other "safe" proven coins like Monero and Ripple, I see DASH as a long-term HODL, ie something to hold on to for the long run.
Where to Buy DASH Coins
How to buy DASH is a breeze. This altcoin is listed on a wide range of cryptocurrency exchanges in exchange for either Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH). I personally recommend that you buy and sell DASH and your other cryptocurrencies on Binance.
If you do not currently have any BTC or ETH, you will want to first purchase some on a site like Coinbase or my site of choice, Uphold. Once you have done that, you can then transfer your Bitcoin or Ethereum to Binance and then start getting some DASH!
