SpaceX
Starlink, a satellite Internet project from SpaceX, improves Internet access in remote and sparsely populated areas of the world where traditional providers cannot offer their services.
This makes the Internet more accessible and reduces the level of control over the Internet infrastructure. Internet connections via satellites are independent of local infrastructure on the ground. The access point directly connects directly to the satellite in orbit. This reduces the influence of national regulators and increases freedom of access to information.
Today, the Starlink infrastructure is already used by more than 2.4 million users , and the number of satellites has already exceeded 5800.
OneWeb, Telestat and other companies are also working on similar projects.
Tor
Tor, or The Onion Router, is a system designed to provide anonymity on the Internet. It allows users to hide their location and Internet usage from anyone analyzing network traffic.
Here's how it works:
User data passes through randomly selected servers (nodes) located around the world. Each node encrypts the information before passing it on to the next, adding a layer of encryption, like layers on an onion.
The nodes are run by volunteers, which promotes decentralization. Each node only knows the IP address of the previous and next node, but not the full route, which provides a high level of anonymity.
Thus, the Tor browser helps users bypass geographic restrictions and censorship, provides access to blocked resources, and protects personal data from third parties.
