This is part two of uncovering some ways states support regime change and coups in order to gain greater national or financial powers. In my previous post, for #deepdives contest #11, I mentioned the importance of understanding the reasons WHY there are agendas being pushed by Western powers for changing the governments of other nations.

The main reason usually boils down to resources, and most often oil. This is the case in Venezuela now with the overthrow of Maduro, and still the case for why the U.S. got involved in trying to overthrow Assad and the Syrian government, and in previous support of coups and regime change in places like Libya, which part 1 talked about. Mega corporations with a base in a given nation state are given favorable access to a targeted nation's resources.
In another WikiLeaks publication, we can see that the U.S. has it's own "coup manual" FM3-05.130, which establishes standards used to undermine a nations sovereignty and pressure them to buckle to U.S. foreign policy goals of maintaining or accumulating power for themselves or the mega corporations that in turn uplift their national economic position.
WikiLeaks has published a document titled "Army Special Operations Forces Unconventional Warfare". Published in September 2008, this is a 248 page document that deals with some of the following topics as chapters in themselves:
- UNITED STATES NATIONAL POWER
- POLICY AND DOCTRINE
- SPECIAL FORCES OPERATIONS
- PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS
- CIVIL AFFAIRS OPERATIONS
- SUPPORTING ELEMENTS AND ACTIVITIES
As mentioned before, sustaining or growing national power through national policies which employ unconventional warfare, such as special forces (military) and psychological operations (media), civil affairs (politics) and supporting operations (funding and supplying 'rebels' or opposition). It's a playbook for dominating other nations.
Under the chapter for "UNITED STATES NATIONAL POWER", there is a subsection titled "FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT OF NATIONAL POWER".

The first line explicitly states what I've said:
The financial instrument of national power promotes the conditions for prosperity and stability in the United States and encourages prosperity and stability in the rest of the world.
This is no "conspiracy theory". Conspiracies are the norm of the political sphere, and have been for thousands of years. States plot to establish themselves above other states, and use whatever means they have to achieve that goal, so long as it is palatable and accepted by their population. At least, in most cases it needs to be. And when a population is so distracted and indoctrinated, it's easy to get away with these manipulations and plots.
The document then goes on to describe the importance of money in life, "fostering hard work, higher productivity, and continuous innovation". They also mention the importance of controlling the issuance of money in paragraph 2-44:
The agent controlling the creation, flow, and access to “stores of value” wields power.
... ARSOF [US Army Special Operations Forces] understand that they can and should exploit the active and analytical capabilities existing in the financial instrument of U.S. power in the conduct of UW [Unconventional Warfare].
Get that? The U.S. statist power over financial instruments, globally, SHOULD be exploited by the military for unconventional warfare purposes. The document goes on to explain in paragraph 2.45:
Like the economic activity, which all nation-states, human groups, and individuals respond to, ARSOF can use financial power as a weapon in times of conflict up to and including large-scale general war.
Now, think about the political power moves by the U.S. over decades. Sanctions are placed on other nations as a means of waging war, wear their world-wide supremacy as a financial power is exploited to bend nations to their will. They do it with Russia and China, even though they have no chance of getting any resources from changing their governments. But nonetheless, imposing sanctions and embargoes curtails the economic activity of those nations, which henceforth promotes the economic activities of the U.S., at least in the short term.
Another nation that's been targeted for years, is Iran. And Iran does match the criteria of a nation with oil resources the U.S. covets and wants for themselves. As the oil-bearing Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria were targeted, so too is Iran.
The document continues in paragraph 2-45:
... manipulation of U.S. financial strength can leverage the policies and cooperation of state governments. Financial incentives and disincentives can build and sustain international coalitions waging or supporting U.S. UW campaigns.
This is exactly what the sanctions are meant to do. This is warfare against other nations. And this is what the U.S. and other nations and corporations are doing to Venezuela. They are cutting off access to Venezuela's gold in the U.K. at this very moment, billions of dollars worth!
It's not just the U.S. Treasury that gets involved in manipulating world affairs for U.S. and corporate financial power:
As part of an interagency effort, the U.S. Treasury can recommend changes to U.S. policy that can provide such incentives to state governments and others at the national strategic policy level. Participation in international financial organizations, such as the World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
(OECD), and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), offers the U.S. diplomatic-financial venues to accomplish such coalitions.
The military powers use:
...measured and focused financial incentives or disincentives to persuade adversaries, allies, and surrogates to modify their behavior at the theater strategic, operational, and tactical levels.
World-wide financial institutions are involved in this conspiracy to control the world. Among them the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and Bank for International Settlements. John Perkins talks about his roles as an "economic hitman" for the WB/IMF in the book "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man", revealing how they manipulate and impoverish nations of the world through their lending and interest. It's a big racket. The whole financial system is a scam.
With respect to Venezuela, even if there are grounds for Maduro to be removed as president due to corruption or vote rigging, the U.S. is jumping in at the opportunity to place themselves in a favorable position to leverage the resources of Venezuela. Russia currently has the favor of Venezuela, and the U.S. is looking to break that tie and replace them for the flow of oil.
Even a critic of Maduro, Venezuelan sociologist Edgardo Lander, slams the U.S. plan to push for regime change that favors them. He was interviewed by Democracy Now! a few days ago who pointed out some of the issues:
We go to Caracas, Venezuela, for an update on the escalating standoff between President Nicolás Maduro and opposition leader and self-proclaimed president Juan Guaidó. Guaidó claims he is preparing to deliver humanitarian aid from the Colombian border Saturday. Maduro has rejected the plan, saying the effort is part of a broader attempt to overthrow his regime.
This comes as Trump’s special envoy to Venezuela and right-wing hawk, Elliott Abrams, is leading a U.S. delegation traveling by military aircraft to the Colombian border, supposedly to help deliver the aid. The United Nations, the Red Cross and other relief organizations have refused to work with the U.S. on delivering that aid to Venezuela, which they say is politically motivated.
We speak with Venezuelan sociologist Edgardo Lander, a member of the Citizen’s Platform in Defense of the Constitution. “This certainly is not humanitarian aid, and it’s not oriented with any humanitarian aims,” Lander says. “This is clearly a coup carried out by the United States government with its allies, with the Lima Group and the extreme right wing in Venezuela.”
Venezuela isn't the only one on the chopping-block, as Trump has called for 'change' (regime change) in Cuba and Nicaragua last Monday, with Haiti as another prime target along with Columbia.
The U.S. and other Western state-backed coup of Venezuela and theft of their economy could be one of many to happen in the coming months or years. And they each could draw out for years to come, as we've seen in the Middle East. In the end, the U.S. and mega corporations will be the winners as these countries and their citizens suffer the unconventional warfare of regime change.
