It is quite ironic. Now that I've decided to tone down my ambitions concerning changing this World for the better... the first thing that I feel inspired to write about seems to suggest that I'm still on course.
However things are different now. I am not particularly worried about whetheer this post gets traction. I am saying that which needs to be said.
Let me make a make a simple claim.
Democracy as we know it is not truly democracy at all
So-called 'representative democracy' supposedly involves a populace being given a choice every few years as to whom they would like to represent them.
While its roots may extend all the way back to some 500 or so BC, Democracy only saw widespread adoption in the 19th century.
While the system of contemporary democracy was continuing to evolve, in some ways it remained the same. The rules for domination shifted and grew ever more... manipulable.

Rather than giving a full history of how back-handers and populism stole politics, I will succinctly describe the current situation.
The way that things work today, every 4-5 years the populace is asked to choose their representation. To these representatives the people shall delegate their right to governance for the next few years.
Providing a sheen of legitimacy to the process is the participation of multiple candidates with just a few front-runners.
Behind the scenes, those with money and resources get to choose who gets elected and what those candidates represent. This is not only because most front-runners can be swayed by financial gain, but also because the opinions of women and men can be perverted through the weaving of a false reality at the behest of the centralized purveyors of false truths that in turn leads to false understanding and false choices.

People grow so conflicted in being given their "choices"that they often vote in the name of choosing a "lesser evil".
Never mind that those choices are being made less relevant thanks to mysteriously coded "voting machines".
Never mind what portion of the population remains unrepresented - just so long as a majority of the 'votes' elect 'a winner'.
...Ba-a-ah...
Or, to re-cap the above:
That which we know as the predominant form of political system is that of a faux democracy fueled by the fruits of opinion-engineered populaces.
Or, what I like to term... a Demockerycy.

Do you feel that your political system does a good job of representing your views and those of your fellow citizens? all of them?
