Demonetized on Facebook, Appeal Rejected, and Now RESTORED with No Monetization Violations?
Facebook demonetized me after years making thousands of videos earning thousands of dollars. I'm grateful for all that Facebook's done.
Let me tell you the story of what happened with my account because if you've been demonetized, this might help you to learn from my experience and maybe to learn what to avoid.
I logged into my account on Facebook a month ago and it looked like this. This was quite a surprise because I had not been doing anything that I could figure would cause a monetization policy violation.
I also was not notified whenever this happened. I don't know if it had been like this for two months beforehand or if it just happened.
I did notice that all of a sudden I had restricted monetization and I could not find the actual violation anywhere.
This is in the Creator Studio under "Monetization Policy Issues."
I clicked on "Request a review" at which point I got to the support inbox.
All you can do is submit your URL. You can't even provide an explanation. I submitted my URL.
They gave me this response.
"We appreciate you reaching out and we'll respond shortly."
A day or two later, Dexter sends me a message that says:
"Thank you for submitting an appeal. We've reviewed your page for monetization eligibility. At this time, we aren't able to reinstate access for ad breaks, branded content or instant articles."
"To use these features, your page must comply with Facebook's policies. We recommend you address your pages compliance going forward as it may become eligible within 90 days to re-access monetization features."
Maybe I lost eligibility two months before this and I didn't even notice it.
I got this appeal rejected.
Then, I log into my account a few days later and suddenly find it says: "No monetization violations."
Not only that, it says there are no recent violations.
What? What is happening? How did it get like this? How did it get like that if I didn't violate anything?
How recent are the violations?
If you want to look at my page and see what I'm doing, I'm grateful I've got millions of followers on my Facebook page. I'm wondering if it was because I started posting videos with watermarks on them, which is perfectly allowable by the terms and conditions because they're not promoting anything third party, they're promoting my own stuff.
Why can't I put watermarks on my own stuff?
I had not been uploading any videos for a while, then all of a sudden out of nowhere, demonetized and now remonetized.
What? I don't understand.
I am grateful. I hope it's useful to share this with you if you've been demonetized to understand that the process just may not make any sense at all.
What I can say, I've had a lot of experience with issues with accounts online. Demonetized, suspended accounts.
I'm cool with stuff like this now.
A message like this before used to tilt me. I got this message and I didn't even care: "Okay, it's your platform, you demonetize me if you want to. That's fine."
I didn't react to this or get upset or anything. I'm like, "Okay, whatever."
Then I checked back in my account and it's turned back on and it feels rejected. Cool. If you've had something happen, it may help to just do the appeal and if you don't get the appeal, just forget about it.
Don't even think about it.
My monetization just turned itself back on all of a sudden, I didn't have to stress over it at all. These kinds of things are very normal if you are online a lot, if you're doing a lot of videos.
In fact, almost all the creators I know have had some disaster or some big downfall online, getting an account suspended, getting demonetized. Often it can be either fixed on the platform itself or done somewhere else just fine.
