I've just had some weeks of intense work with little time for writing here. In the coming weeks I intend to write more.
Today a short update on what I am doing.
As I am just preparing for the last exam of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), I have to learn much theory about options. Now I just broke my own rule (wrote about it here: @zuerich/why-i-don-t-short-sell-warum-ich-nicht-shorte) and bought a put option on the DAX (Germany's stock index). Why?
- I want to get "skin in the game" / "hands-on experience" and combine theory with practice in order to accelerate my learning.
- I'd like to profit from a decline in the equity market. Due to rather high debts, negative economic growth, a looming European banking crisis and impending insolvencies, I expect a credit crunch (deflationary shock) in the coming months. This would affect stocks, real estate, gold and probably BTC. As I am not willing to short gold or BTC, and I think the German economy and equity market is overvalued, I bought a put option on the DAX (out of the money with strike price of 9800, expiry date December, 18 2020).
- I know the risks involved. The probability of "being right" is very low, according to "inflationary" market sentiment. But my downside is limited to the option premium I paid, and if I'm right, the upside is quite high (in March 2020 the value of this option grew more than 20-fold).
Plus, of course, I am stacking sats (@zuerich/stacking-satoshis-akkumulation-von-satoshis) and Hive (@zuerich/my-hive-pledge-and-some-simple-math).
I am eager to find out - together with you - where the price bottom of Hive lies. If my put option is profitable, a portion of the proceeds will flow directly into Hive, of course 😀.

Heute ein kurzes Update zu dem, was mich gerade umtreibt.
Da ich mich gerade auf die letzte Prüfung des CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) vorbereite, muss ich viel Theorie über Optionen lernen. Jetzt habe ich gerade meine eigene Regel gebrochen (wie hier geschrieben: @zuerich/why-i-don-t-short-sell-warum-ich-nicht-short) und eine Put-Option auf den DAX gekauft. Warum?
- Ich möchte "skin in the game" / praktische Erfahrung sammeln und die Theorie mit der Praxis verbinden, um mein Lernen zu beschleunigen.
- Ich möchte von einem Rückgang des Aktienmarktes profitieren. Aufgrund hoher Schulden, eines negativen Wirtschaftswachstums, einer drohenden europäischen Bankenkrise und drohender Insolvenzen erwarte ich in den kommenden Monaten eine Kreditklemme (Deflationsschock). Davon wären Aktien, Immobilien, Gold und wahrscheinlich auch BTC betroffen. Da ich nicht bereit bin, Gold oder BTC zu verkaufen/shorten, und ich glaube, dass die deutsche Wirtschaft und der deutsche Aktienmarkt überbewertet sind, habe ich eine Put-Option auf den DAX gekauft (und zwar "out of the money" mit Ausübungspreis von 9800, Verfallsdatum 18. Dezember 2020).
- Ich kenne die damit verbundenen Risiken. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, "Recht zu haben", ist gemäss der "inflationären" Marktstimmung sehr gering. Aber mein Maximalverlust beschränkt sich auf die von mir gezahlte Optionsprämie, und wenn ich Recht habe, ist das Upside recht hoch (im März 2020 ist der Wert dieser Option um mehr als das 20-fache gestiegen).
Außerdem akkumuliere ich weiter Satoshis (@zuerich/stacking-satoshis-akkumulation-von-satoshis) und Hive (@zuerich/my-hive-pledge-and-some-simple-math).
Ich bin gespannt darauf mit Euch zusammen herauszufinden, wo die Preisuntergrenze von Hive liegt. Wenn meine Put-Option profitabel ist, wird ein Teil der Erlöse direkt in Hive fließen, eh klar ...😀.
