Hello everyone,
Today I'd like to share with you Github's new feature, Sponsors, enabling open source projects to find support. I have added my profile for my work on Inkito so there's another way for you to support the project.
The system is similar to Patreon but for developers, where you can set an amount per month to give. One goal for the developer can be set, as well as exclusive content and emails from what I understood.
I discovered this awesome new feature from the Caleb Porzio's blog who just hit $100k/year of funding for his educational projects. Lots of great insight and strategies in his article.
Hopefully this system becomes popular and passionate developers can build things that matter instead of freelancing for a buck on Fiverr. (They could do both... really!).
I know we are used to support on Hive but Github having been aquired by Microsoft, it has a massive appeal to developers around the world. I dream of a world where Hive have such a huge reach. Soon enough!
Let me know what you think.
See you on the other side,
Jrej
