"Dialectical and Historical Materialism"
What's the content of the book
For even a book by Stalin, it covers the essentials of Dialectical and Historical Materialism. Containing talks and explanations about the philosophy of dialectics, materialism, and historical materialism. It even touches upon people like Hegel, so clearly this is no "Bible" book, but a serious work for any one to look into and learn from.
Historical relevance
The book was written by JV Stalin, former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Although I've read the book before, I decided to read it again to start up my research on the ideology itself in order to become well versed on theory. To say the least, as a ML in the 21st century, I can honestly say that it helped a lot in reopening myself to Marxist-Leninist theory. It has also broadened my perception of the world and knowledge of theory and I look forward to studying more theory and understanding all aspects of Marxism-Leninism. To anyone who wishes to study Marxist-Leninist theory, I recommend starting with this work by Stalin.
Why it matters
Of course within modern discourse, and modern philosophy for that matter, it certainly lends itself as a defense of Dialectics. Even though it was written before the mid-1950s, the subject matters covered and how he explains such is really breath-taking to what gets talked and supported nowadays. And with how Capitalism is nowadays, it's worth the hike back into works like these as to understand our modern condition and how we can go beyond what lies in the text. We don't need a restoration of the past, but a return to such.
