I think that as people drift farther and farther from one another in our daily lives, we will begin to feel.. alone, deprived of human contact and even sensory input as our foods become bland and tasteless and the corners of the boxes we encounter become increasingly round, padded. Our speed is now governed, don't go too fast, don't take too long. Every unit of air that we breathe will be filtered by the same environmental control 'robot' (in other words a machine.. with a purpose) which controls the temperature, moisture, and by extension how thirsty we will be, this will all just continue to get worse. I dare say that the drug 'problems' we are seeing are caused by 2 things. Our desire to be real and feel like we exist, or a fear of this reality which is driving people mad by decrying their beliefs, outlawing our speech, it won't be long before even things labelled 'nasty thoughts' are detectable by entire constellations of meticulously placed geostationary satellites, enabling the thought police to find and correct our rogue brainwaves before they cause a disruption or god forbid a delay. We will not be allowed to continue lowering the efficiency of our planets workforce, games will become a thing of the past. Children are beginning to forget how to play, mostly unfamiliar with the plants and animals that we once felt an unbelievable even divine connection to, but it just keeps getting worse.
"We're still here. we're not dead" one might suggest.. Well.. I think if your great ancestors were here, they might question if you are alive. What part of today's life would be recognizable as "free" or "thriving" to your great x5 grandfather?
As we continue in the same direction for seemingly ever, we are systematically removing the planks beneath our feet, the very things that we needed to reach for the stars abandoned and replaced with scientifically calculated formulas, dietary "requirements" , artificial sweeteners colors and flavors, you have to wonder how long it is before everything really does smell and taste like chicken?
