The representative democracy seen in our US Government has failed because of the separation between elected officials and the people that put them in power. A call for a governmental system with thorough direct democracy processes throughout has become a necessity. In a system using thorough processes of direct democracy, people have an equal say on decisions made for themselves across the board. Countries like Switzerland have had thorough direct democracy throughout their governmental processes for over 700 years!
New to the 21 century a system called liquid democracy enables voters the to delegate their vote to other voters to make decisions. The liquid democracy system also called delegative democracy is popularly called "direct democracy with delegable proxies". A push to implement the liquid democracy system promises to advance human organizational structures and standards exponentially, not just to national governance.
Think about it, you are able to log in online impose your vote to a proposed decision. This system will allow minimal verbal communication if any to create decisions. The process is streamlined and is immediate. Most popular known to use the liquid democracy system is a political party called Pirate Party. They use an open source liquid democracy software called Liquid Feedback.
