People have dreams, either they make their own or someone create for them. Which strategy is better? I have seen many families around me who gave their children a target to achieve, like joining army, becoming a doctor, engineer and stuff like that. Most of them are happy with all the dreams they achieved that were created by their parents, positive thing right?
But think for a moment, what happens to a person who will not be able to achieve all those goals set by his parents? He might have some other plans and dreams to chase but going after something he hasn't set himself and don't have any interest either will definitely make him a loser.
You want an example? Sure, here it is:
1. My First Okay
I was good with computers and wanted to select computer as a field of specialization from grade 9, my father had another plan for me. He wanted me to become a good doctor, I said "Okay". I was never a biology guy, looking at animal plant cells and some bacteria made me frustrated. I tried my best but as expected, didn't get a good score and my father had to sacrifice his dream of making his child a pathetic doctor.
2. My Second Okay
Now I had the opportunity to go for computers and programming stuff in my 11 and 12th grade, had to choose one major. It was again, my father, who asked me to select "Commerce" (Word I will hate till my death)as a field of study. I said "Okay".
3. My Third Okay
Did Intermediate and Bachelor in Commerce and being a student of accountancy, I wanted to be the best, so I decided to go for Chartered Accountancy. Asked my father about this and he said to apply for Master in Commerce, Ah, again the word "Commerce" that ruined my life.
What happened after that
I was unable to find a good job, had to join a customer support company to start earning some bucks. Though the job wasn't related to my studies but I had to take this decision due to some financial situations! Started working as an accountant as well in a small company along with the first job after 6 months and I will be summarizing my next five years (from 2012 to 2017) like this.
Worked 18 Hours A Day for 5 Years!
Resigned from the accountancy job in January 17 and said bye bye to the accountancy field. I have started learning HTML, CSS and other web development languages and I have a plan to learn other sophisticated languages like Python, C++, Java etc.
So I am starting everything from scratch, learning some coding stuff that I love and something I should have started 14 years ago.
