Hey guys, this is my first official post other than my Introduceyourself post and I am doing a DIY headband out of old T shirts, a bow, and a small strip of fabric. Before anyone makes this I want to warn them that this makes a small headband and might not fit if you have a large head.
To start with, gather the materials that you will need:
The collars cut out of 3 old T-shirts(I used 2 shirts and the bottom hem of an old pair of jeans).
A bow that is roughly 4 ½ inches (11½ cm) long and 3 inches (7½ cm) at the widest point(I made one from the bottom of an old pair of black leggings).
A thin ribbon or strip of cloth.
The steps:
Now, tie a piece of the ribbon around all 3 shirt collars.
Start braiding the loops together on one side of the knot.
Then start braiding the other side in the same direction as the first side.
When you reach the point where you are not able to braid any more, tie another ribbon around that part so that it stays braided.
Trim the ends of the ribbon right next to the knot.
Undo the first knot and tighten the braid evenly and then retie the knot and trim loose ends.
Sew the bow on top of the second knot by hand and stretch the headband in your hands before putting it on.
