Yesterday I was given a chance to clean and organize our home since it was a quiet day for me. Maybe because of my good mood, I clean all stuff we don't need and I've put them on garbage. After sorting many things and putting them in their new designated place, I've seen this spot was perfect to add more shelves. But I do have only limited materials and I don't have any good woods to be the base.
Good thing I found this old wood which was expose everyday under the sun and even rain. This is not reusable based on it's texture and aside from that it is kinda softer but still I grab it and tries to think if how can I use it for my DIY. After several minute of thinking, I finallized my plan not to use any wood under it as brace. Since the other side was just a plain thin plywood and the other side has a thick wood that I can put some nails.
I measure the wall using ruler if it fits equal both sides. I put 5 pieces of nails in total for it is a corner spot it would be a triangular shape. As I said earlier that the wood that I am using was not a decent one, I am so careful and still experience some cracks because it was soft and brittle.
After awhile I finished cutting and proceed to the next step. I chose not to paint it because I want to use it after I finish it today. I looked for some old fabric and cut it in half. I cover and secure edges using a gluestick manually.
I need to put extra strength in every nails since it serves as the brace. I insert a thick cotton yarn and with hairpin as my needle. I made 4 tiny wholes so I can made it to stand and carry weight. I insert it, tie and knot at the nails below. Then I connect, tie and knot upward on nails also that's why I called it hanging.
I add this black strings to be the brace that hold the overall weight below. I think it is good that I put it so it can be more stable though obviously the weight was on the middle part. I can't put any strings in the middle because it will blocked once I open my organizer.
After 2 hours I finished it and already put my things here. This is just an ordinary things that I have. No fancy and expensive beauty products. Though it looks cheap, I am proud that I made it by my own hand without costing me any amount of money and recycling waste materials. Maybe if I wi get a good plywood I will remake it and do a 2.0 version of it.
Thanks for dropping by and have a good day ahead!
XOXO,
Rachelle
