Now here's a story all about how, my chair got fix, pimped up, wow wow...
cough
So anyways, about a week ago we decided to get my chair sorted out seeing as the weather was going to be abysmal for a week preventing any work being done on my computer case.
My chair is a DX Racer, It's about 6 years old, around 2 years in it started peeling and shedding bit's of fake leather. I've put up with it making a mess for 4 years and finally we've sorted it.
Below you can see just how bad it had gotten.

We started by stripping the chair down to it's base components, removing the cover which required getting some steel hoops off and a bit of fiddling.
My dad then spent a good few hours carefully undoing all the stitching so we can use the various parts as templates to cut new fabric.

Here my dad is working on laying everything out, we had just enough fabric to get it done.
The fabric is off an old swede sofa that we dismantled and tipped. We also got some wadding to act as a barrier so the swede doesn't rub against the foam, it also provides extra padding.
With everything cut, pinned to the wadding my dad gets started sewing, The sewing machine is a 40 year old machine we've had since forever. I think it was my grandma's sewing machine, It's still going strong although it does have a little bit of wear so gets jammed sometimes depending on what it's being used with.
Here you can see we decided to go with a diamond pattern which looks very nice. It's come out very well considering how tough the fabric is, the sewing machine struggled a little in some places.
In the base we also removed the elastic straps and but a flat board in there instead as the straps were pretty much useless, they would move half a centimetre before the foam would hit the steel frame. With the board it has full support all the time.
The part we had the most trouble was getting the back cover back together, it was a lot of pieces with some very problematic junctions.
We ended up spending a day just trying to get it all to fit together again as it was being a right pain, there are some very awkward curves.
Here is the finished chair. It's very comfy, more so than it was before.
It's nice to get a job done and finished, hopefully it'll last for another good few years.
Now we can get back to my computer case assuming the weather is any good. I'm also working on my aquariums a bit so shall be doing an update with those too.
