When I read this article, I was dumbfounded. It was shown in a study that pet food bowls came in #4 in top 30 places where germs can be found in your home. And it's not limited to "wet" or "moist" pet food. Even dry food leaves a residue in the bowls that can grown various types of bacteria.
The recommendation is to use stainless steel or metal feed pans because plastic ones can form tiny cracks that allow even more places for bacteria to grow.
They also recommend washing the bowls with soap and water daily and do a sanitizing weekly.
These germs and bacteria can make both you and your pet ill and it's largely overlooked.
