
The Los Angeles Angels made an $11 million investment in Matt Harvey last winter. This is a move that did not pay off and the team is cutting its losses after only 12 starts. Harvey was designated for assignment by the team.
The former All-Star struggled the last few years after a series of injuries derailed a once promising career. Hope was revived after he was traded to the Reds where he put up a 4.70 ERA in 24 starts.
