I used to love my job.
I've been a union stage and for almost 15 years. The job is not what it used to be for many reasons. I'll try and no dwell on these matters as this video I made of my 12 hour day cheered me up!
It was grueling today. I'm used to over my career having qualified personnel to work with or around, anymore having anyone around you that has even half of the experience that you have, is a luxury. There were lots of 'learning' experiences today for my crew who needed training on how to do certain things with lights. But it was ok and I had a Brock. He was my other lead and will be the 'shadow' programmer for the week as I will be the power/ head electrician for the show unless I get fired for making this video! Hopefully, I do not get fired and you all enjoy this video and appreciate the risks I am taking to give you this sneak peak into my once glorious career.
We loaded in a show today. I helped manage a crew of technicians to hang a structure with lights. These lights were LED lights and moving lights! Unfortunately once the product is set and the company logos are visible I must not share while the show is going. But afterwards we will see!
We hangs the lights and ran cable for them. We needed power and control cables. The control cables have a 'dmx' signal that is sent out by a light controller to control the lights. Today was a long 12 hour day and tomorrow might be a little shorter!
