Joseph Newman Visit 1987 This was my Visit in summer of 1987 to Mr. Newman´s workshop in the woods of Lucedale, Mississippi. I was allowed to stay there for about an hour or so.. Yes, you can also see the commutator of the very first big machine, that was shown in Maryland in the convention center...but that was hard to film, as I only had a a shitty VHS-C camcorder with a Tube sensor, which was affected by the magnetic fields of the big permanent magnet rotor...and the coil was pretty high, so I needed to film with my hands over my head and not seeing, what I was really filming... Mr. Newman showed me mostly his small fan motor there in action running on 2 x 250 Volts Raovac drycell batteries in series, where he had lots of RF power coming out... This was just a normal commutator on the Fan motor just a mechanical commutator which did reverse the current in the coil each 180 degrees...No pulsing there, just reversing the current... I mostly wanted to see the big motors. but they were not ready to be shown running unfortunately...cause he modified them and one had his rotor removed... Anyway, I also filmed the commutator of the big machine... I hope you like this piece of history film... Luckily I could still digitize this as when I was done my old VCR died...

I was invited because I did a study work at our technical university of Berlin, Germany about the Newman machines and after I called Mr. Evan Soule he arranged the visit for me to Mr. Newman´s property. I also met Mr. Ralph Hartwell at this trip but we did not have much time to speak for long unfortunately... I also had to drive back to New Orleans about 4 or 5 hours and return the rented car, so this was all very exhausting that day... Stood up early in the morning at 6 o`clock, rented the car at 8 in the morning and then drove from New Orleans to Lucedale Mississippi, where Mr. Newman picked me up at the water storage tower tank of the town and then we drove to his property in the woods of Lucedale...pretty far out there...
When I was near the running FAN motor with my VHS-C camera with a Tube sensor, the rotating neodymn magnets affected very much my camera and the strong RF pulses of the commutator switching were also inducing these noise lines into my tape recordings...
One user wrote: that mustve been an interesting trip... My answer: Indeed... I was almost 2 hours late as I had rented a car to get there and I did not realize, that the distance was Miles and not Kilometers... lol...I was staying at this time in New Orleans... so quite a trip to go there...
yes only his first big machine seems to have more electrical output power then was going in electrically... all the smaller machines unfortunately don't show this effect
My video is at DLive
