It's an all European semifinal lineup. The two star laden teams, France and Belgium face each other in the first semifinals to determine which neighbor will go to the finals and which neighbor will fight it out for 3rd place. France have won the World Cup once in 1998 and Belgium's best performance was in 1986 when they lost the semis against Argentina (the eventual winners) and came fourth after losing to France in the 3rd/4th playoff. In regards to the second game, Croatia face one time World Cup champions England. There is a sense of belief that "Football is coming home" up and down the country in England and some fans are trying to find ways to make it to Moscow for that semifinal. England won the World Cup back in 1966 when they hosted the competition, but can they make it to their only second final 52 years later? This is their best run in a World Cup since 1990. As for Croatia, their experienced squad may have surprised some people, yet this World Cup run has been in the making. Croatia has only gotten strong and strong since the late 90s. Their best performance in a World Cup is like Belgium, 4th place, but in 1998. History could be made over the course of the next 36 hours or so as we find out the finalists.
