Today's Voting Rewards
A quick look at the Curation Rewards that came through with decent payouts today (over 1 STEEM) and an insight into how I voted and why

by @jl777
I voted on this post 25 minutes after it went up. I was the first dolphin/ whale to arrive. It was a post by @jl777 and the first four words in the title were “why whales are needed”. You really didn’t need to go much further to know that at least a handful of whales will take the bait. In the end it only a $145.33 pot. However because a got in at the optimal time I bagged a nice little reward.

by @pachenko
A post that starts with a picture of a sleeping kitten followed by a picture of Lil’ Wayne is bound to get attention. It was in fact a humourous post that had been up an hour before I spotted it. Only @wang (of the large STEEM Power holders) had voted before me. This post didn’t end up being as successful as I’d envisaged. It only managed to raise a pot of $340. Luckily @dantheman voted on it after me, netting me a nice little reward.

Steemit never fails to attract interesting people – I mean a ‘cartoon-animator-storyboarder-illustrator’ that actually created a Steemit animation (see below)... what’s not to love about @doe. Really looking forward to what she's got in store for us (no pressure @doe).
(copyright notice… this picture is not my work, this is @doe’s work… to the best of my knowledge. I’m am using it for illustrative purposes only… please please please do not run me out of town! - read here for context)
Anyway, the post has been up almost an hour before I voted on it. Only a couple of smaller dolphins had jumped in before me. I was confident it would do well and it did, with even @ned jumping in to swell the pot. This post was my biggest Curation Reward of the day.

by @anyx
This is a great initiative by @anyx and is worthy of an upvote irrespective of Curation Rewards. I do feel however that the best way to combat plagiarism, is by voters being more discerning and rewarding/ upvoting content that blatantly isn’t copied… cough cough … vote for work like this… cough cough. Or at least voting for authors that have a track-record of mixing up blatantly original stuff, to go alongside stuff that can might seem generic/ copied.
Reputations are important. And no-one that’s taken the time to build one up here, with original content, is going to jeopardise that by copying content. It wouldn’t make sense.
Once plagiarist (and others) see that there is real rewards to be earned for consistent originality, the better it is for the eco-system generally.
Anyway, I got in on this late. Despite that because it went on to become a mini-monster post ($7k payout) and I got a decent share. Result.
