Week 35 (April 2019)
Welcome to Domains in the Wild. In this series I post images of domain names that I've spotted out and about in the real world. Then I write a bit about what I think of each one. It's easy to miss domain names, but they're all around us and play a key role in a companies branding, messaging, and design. Spotting them and taking a photo is sort of a fun hunting game to play while you're out and it takes very little effort once you start looking for them. Once you start to play, you will start seeing domains everywhere without even trying.
If you catch any yourself, please share them with us all in the comments.
Without further delay, here are the domain names that I found in the wild recently...
The Domains
We're back with another installment of Domains in the Wild. I've hand picked 3 domains that I found in the wild recently that I thought I'd share. I've got 2 domains found on buildings / businesses and 1 on a company vehicle. Apart from watching domains, have you been watching the crypto market lately? It's been interesting to watch the last few months as BTC kept peaking above 4k and then dipping back down. Fast forward a few months and we're now at $5,600. I think it's safe to say we saw the bottom. Hopefully you've stocked up or are planning to soon. I don't see us coming down much anytime soon. Same with domains, prices have been going up on premiums. Strike while the iron is hot!
BPVending.com

The first domain up is BPVending.com. This domain belongs to B & P Vending, a vendor based in Bellingham, Washington. The company's history goes back to 1918 and services the Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
As far as the domain goes, it's okay. Although I'm not a fan of mixing acronyms and words, this is pretty close to the literal company name minus the ampersand so it gets a better grade than most letter/word mixed domains.
GreenLakeVillage.com

Next up is GreenLakeVillage.com. This domain belongs to an apartment complex of the same name in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle.
Although this domain is a bit long, it's an exact match to the business name so it works. I think it's quite easy to say and read, it's a nice domain.
AltarSeattle.co

Finally, we have AltarSeattle.co. This domain belongs to a tattoo shop near Roosevelt Square in Seattle.
I like .co domains but in this case this doesn't seem like the right domain. The company goes by Altar only, not Altar Seattle. Throw in that it's two words and ends in .co rather than .com and there's less to like. I would have loved to see simply Altar.co. That would have been a great domain with .co however 2 words is hard with a .co in my opinion. If you're going to go .co look for single word domains. If you're going with 2 words, try to get the .com.
On a completely non domain related note, I love their logo.
