Just wanted to share something that happened to me today real quick (click the video above)...So my daughter and I went to eat some soul food at our local town restaurant, you know, the kind of place that puts a pitcher of ice-tea and a basket of hush-puppies on the table and greets you with a smile. We had never been there before but heard it was REALLY good.
All was going good and well after ordering when the waitress came over with our drinks and told us we didn't have to worry about the bill because someone else had already paid for it, but didn't want to be known. Now, if you know me, then you know this type of thing makes me very uncomfortable (I come from a long line of proud men).
I sat there eating my food literally feeling like I had one of those heat lamps from the old detective movies back in the day pointed at me. What it boils down to is I wanted to say thank you, but couldn't. It bothered me to the point where I almost paid the ticket anyway. When I turned to look at the crowd I saw a bunch of smiling faces looking back...might have been the nicest thing anyone's done for me since I moved to this town 15 years ago.
We finished our meal and left without finding out who had bought our food...to even out the uneasy feeling I had I gave the waitress a $20 and told her I wanted to pay it forward. With the way things are in the world currently, It was great to witness an actual act of kindness that wanted/sought no recognition.
