One of the Crypto Podcasts I listen to is Coin Talk with @aaronlammer and @jaycaspiankang (Twitter handles). In the most recent podcast published Friday, April 13th, they touched on the recent Bloomberg article talking about dtube.

Unfortunately, the transcript of the podcast is not up yet, so I can't give direct quotes of what they had to say, but you can give it a listen if you head over to their medium page and listen to Episode 19. I'm guessing they start talking about dtube around the 16 minute mark, about 1/3 of the way in. Give it a listen and see if you agree with my assessment.
Jay read off the titles of the first couple of videos in a feed, we have to assume it is the trending feed, as I can find no Steemit account for either Aaron or Jay for them to have a feed to look at. So they are talking about dtube in the correct terms, as a decentralized alternative to Youtube. But the statement was that they were expecting the top videos to be full of beheading videos.
I don't know about you, but I've never seen a beheading video in my feed. Ever.
They did say that they didn't see any beheading videos in trending, so I guess that is good. But it was hardly a glowing impression to leave with the listener.
They were looking at the way to earn from dtube as a micro tipping platform comparable to getting tips on Youtube or Twitch. They obviously did not understand the upvote mechanism of Steem. In fact, Steem was not mentioned at all, and Steemit was mentioned extremely briefly as if it was a competing platform.
So the assertion was basically, why would viewers buy a crypto currency to use to tip content creators. They had no concept of the fact that "tipping" on dtube costs nothing, but is a mechanism of the upvote system. At no point did they reference that you tip in Steem, or that the upvote costs the viewer nothing.
Although they did not see any beheading videos, at the end of their comments they asserted that the platform is going to be a place for the ultra disenfranchised, uber right wing, and again stated it would be home for beheading videos.
Not sure where this concept comes from, I suppose some of this might be present on dtube, but I haven't seen it personally.
So Coin Talk does do interviews on their shows. I don't think their presentation of dtube was intentionally demeaning, I just think they do not have an understanding of the platform, the payout structure, and what dtube/steem/dlive/dsound are all capable of.
I am not a representative or even a user of dtube, so I am not really in a position to try to correct the guys on their perceptions. I think they would be open and receptive to talking to someone representing the platform. If you think you are that person, you can reach out to them at hi@cointalk.show. I think it would be great exposure for Steem and dtube as well as the entire ecosystem.

So going back to the question posed in the title of this post. Is it better to get mentioned but represented incorrectly? Or is it necessary to correct the perception so that people know what is really going on over here?
Discuss below and/or discuss directly with the guys at Coin Talk.
