Every time we have a few inches of snow in England everything just stops. Our infrastructure is just not up to the job and every time it does snow every news media outlet jumps on the band wagon to spread a load of fear uncertainty and doubt (FUD)
Why do they do it?
Because people swarm to bad news for very good psychological reasons. People need to know what the situation really is so that they can prepare and adapt to the new circumstances.
The only problem with this approach is that the news is so sensationalized that many people just panic and start emptying the shops of food and water and because the roads are impassable, this can lead to shortages in some shops which again feeds back into the panic. Again reported by the main stream media.
The solution?
Turn off the news and look out of your window. If it is snowing. Stay home if you are lucky enough to have one. Imagine the desperate situation of those people on the streets with nowhere to go for shelter.
That is the real story that should be getting our attention.
